I haven't seen too much of Bute but what I've seen shows his style may make for a hard fight and Kelly Pavlik getting the worst of it! I sense some guys gearing themselves up to get of that train that has been in the Youngstown station for 2 1/2 years and heading up to Montreal for a new ride!!
Pavlik-Bute is not for now anyway. They may be on the same HBO card though. The question is: how many fights do they need to hype the fight? For Bute's team, the answer is 1. What is it for Pavlik's team? 1,2,3, one year, in 2011? I think HBO would buy it for later this year.
Let's say for the sake of argument that Kelly moves up and beats Bute later this year. Then what? 168 will only have one money fight left as a consequence of the tournament and what is the soonest that could take place? People don't see that this "super" tournament has the potential to throw cold water on the division for a few years after it is over.
No, Bute has championship talent. Pavlik avoids that at all cost. Kinda funny people criticized Jermaine Taylor's Championship reign, and looking back the man fought much better competition as champion with his fights against Hopkins, Wright, Spinks, Ouma, and Pavlik. Where as from Pavlik we have seen Rubio, Espino and Lockett.
You may be right. But after Martinez, who is left for Pavlik in the MW? Sturm and Golovkin would be very good too but will they be able to fight Pavlik soon? If Williams doesn't want to fight Pavlik, he may end without a big fight very soon. And Pavlik likes big fights. He likes to get the big $. He will go for Bute if he has nothing else interesting. But his first choice is Williams for sure. Bute could be after Williams, in time to pick some of the super 6 losers.
If you're waiting for Pavlik to beat someone with a pulse then you will need three lifetimes to hope for such a fight. I don't think Arum and Pavlik will even THINK about taking this fight, Bute would beat the living **** out of Pavlik, terrible style for him. They were avoiding Abraham and recently Williams you honestly think HBO will be able to force them to take this?, even if they do I don't expect them to take it. I will be VERY shocked if they sign to fight Bute anytime in the future UNLESS Bute runs into a loss or a terrible performance.
It could be Huge without the right build up :yep For Pavlik at least 2 ----> 1 good fight at middleweight and 1 decent test fight at super-middleweight . What are Bute's options for 17 April ? ....Miranda? .....Taylor?:huh ....Stieglitz??(or it is to soon after the fight with Acosta?):think
It seems Glen Johnson declined an offer to fight Bute. I don't think Stieglitz is what HBO wants. Taylor won't fight so soon. There were rumors of Allan Green not fighting Bika and going for Bute's title but I think Edison Miranda is the one who will face Bute. I heard he's willing to.
