Pavlik stopped Zuniga on cuts in 2005. Zuniga was cut badly over both eyes, and couldn't see the punches coming. He retired on his stool after the 9th round. The older 168 pound Zuniga is not quite the same fighter, but the fact remains, no one ever just straight up handed Zuniga his ass the way Bute did.
Why not ? It will be Champ vs Champ.Bute could win another belt and raise even more in boxing fans eyes..building up the fight between Bute and the Super Six Champ .The question is... does Stieglitz want's to fight him ?
The answer of the second question may be no. I still think HBO would prefer Miranda to Stieglitz because he's more known in the USA and has faced bigger names: Pavlik, Abraham and Ward, all three opponents Bute would face one day.
I think Zuniga gave Pavlik his hardest fight pre-Taylor, and perhaps even including Taylor depending on what kind of standards you're applying. He certainly didn't look the same fighter when he fought Bute, but Bute stopped him much more convincingly. Those counter-upper-cuts to the solar plexis are becoming his trademark.
