Is a speed ball relevant in training? I don't see any real benefits for using it

Anyone know of/have links to good speed bag drills other than the standard slightly lift left leg and hit 2x with left hand, slightly lift right leg and hit 2x with right hand?

Yes moving around it and moving it with your Head. First time I saw it was in our Gym, watching Duran do it. Great idea which can have different permutations, when doing it.

I used to feel like it didn't, but I think it keeps your hands moving and somehow, helps you keep your combinations sharper.

i hit mine like a double end ball sometimes, its perfect head height the way i have it set up. you need to have quick hands, and be very accurate and precise with your punches to be able to string together combinations on it like that. as well, i trap it in between rounds. and do regular work on it and mix in some tricks here and there to make it a little more complicated. its a great shoulder workout too at the end of your training

Never would have thought to use a speed ball for that... Always used to use the floor-to-ceiling ball.

Speed balls, are good for rhythm and hand eye coordination.

Got any good clips of that?

I prefered the floor-to-ceiling as it is pretty unpredictable, whereas speed balls are pretty linear.

I´m not sure about it. I can use it without even looking at it, so that takes away the eye hand cordination, at least for me and some of our gyms other boxers. I think it is good for strenghting you to keep your hands up. Otherwise it is easy to learn and nice as a show off thing when new boxers step into the gym :)
