The big performances tonight came from Parker and AJ who have been heavily active this year. The worst performances from the likes of Wilder who hasn’t fought. And obviously similar for Fury recently. You really got to stay active
Ask Floyd Mayweather about timing of fights. Wilder's team (of buttlicks, Malik Scott is a no heart bum) were on crack fighting Parker.
Of course it is. Most world level fighters today only fight once or twice a year. Not only do a good chunk of them get out of shape in-between fights, but they just don't Box at all. It's hard being good at Boxing if you don't actually Box. Sparring is good for muscle memory and all, but a fighter gets much more out of an actual fight and a tighter schedule.
Yes but age is a problem too. Wilder is 2 years away from being 40. Tysons been a professional for 15 years. These fighters were in their prime 4 years ago, I genuinely don't think their bodies would be up to fighting 3 times per year. Parker on the other hand is 31 so in theory at his physical prime now. Joshua has a few more miles on the clock but he's looked after himself so will be able to string out a couple more years. He'll be washed by 38 too though.
True. I don’t mean to suggest that activity alone will win fights. But I wonder if AJ or Parker would look as good if it was their first fight this year? I don’t think so. And I hope Fury and Wilder will see that and get more active if they plan on sticking around.
True in general. Younger guys need to be more active as well but since they make plenty of money like this there is no urgency. They rather sleep in satin sheets than be uncomfortable.
Yeah, this isn't the guy who kept coming even after he was out on his feet against Fury. The inactivity killed him, as it has to a lot of fighters who've been part-timers since 2020. The active guys are winning, and hopefully young fighters see this and learn the lesson. I want to see the most tenacious and ambitious fighters.
Yes - that and Focused AGGRESSION. Plus Parker knowing how to TAKE AWAY the right hand of a heavy hitter
