I need to see more of Broner, his hard critics are being harsh on him though, talking about fights at 140 an even 147 when he just had his first fight at lightweight. Boxing fans are some of the most hard to please sports fans. I had him ponce winning the broner fight but things change, hes coming into his own. we will see

I hope Broner does well. If he fights and beats Ricky Burns and looks good in the process, I will start to take his hype seriously. Boxing needs new stars, and Broner could be one of them. Or he could be Jeff Lacy, no disrespect to him either, I was a fan.

The point is not attacking or disparaging the fighters, but rather pointing out the absurdity of fan's expectations and hype. Broner being elevated now to the elite P4P, based on promise and potential, is very very similar to Lacy. I remember it well, those parrallels are clear.

This is a guy whose above Carl Froch, Amir Khan, Wlad Klitschko, Tim Bradley, Mikkel Kessler and Manny Pacquaio. Based on what? He's flashy and American.

Broner is the real deal. He's probably the surest bet prospect that there is right now.

Hopefully he doesn't end up like Mayweather and ducking everyone that can potentially beat him.

No American rates Broner in the top 10 dumbass. That's all golden boys work.

300 million Americans and not one of them has Broner in the top ten?

Okay, I'll take your word for it. Maybe if they did, someone quickly pointing out how absurd it is would change their fickle little minds.

I also didn't realise the Ring editorial board was exclusively composed of non-Americans. Kudos to them. Diversity is healthy.

You are the American Arran, wanting to make everything nationalistic. It's boring.

    Fixed.

The problem is that he is being hyped to the masses, which is the obvious thing to do seeing as they need the masses to make serious money. In a day and age where boxing is based purely on who makes the most money expect to see hyped prospects get put P4P.

I personally don't think Broner is that great yet. Even with improvements in recent fights every opponent he has faced since Ponce was picked for Broner to look good against, I would want to see him against someone who moves as much as Vazquez or who jabs as good as Burns, but I expect that will soon happen, and if he wins then I'll reconsider my opinion of him.

Both fights could have happened already but both turned Broner down.

I agree Broner shouldn't be in the top 10 P4P but he's still a top figher today.

I agree that Broner has been heavily hyped to the point that some are getting carried away, but it doesn't take away from the fact that in this day and age,he is a precocious talent and whilst I thought Lacey was horribly overrated B.C(Before Calzaghe) Broner is a completely different proposition and has slight flaws that can be easily ironed out by the right tutleage so that his strengths can be complimented accordingly.
He's a more complete fighter now than Lacey ever was.

Broner's weight is anchored too much on his back foot. He can be outmaneuvered and ambushed.

Broner is much better than Lacy ever was.
