Is Adrien Broner the Jeff Lacy v2.0?

This thread is lol worthy.

Lacy's only asset was his supposed punching power. Well, not only is Broner better at everything else when compared to Lacy, he is also a better, sharper puncher.

 

Broner skill level is beyond Jeff Lacy. Lacy fought off of brute strength. He got hit way to much and wasn't versatile at all. If both fighters fought in the same weight class, Broner would destroy him.

 

Lacy 2.0 is Berto.

But even Berto is better.

It's like everyone forgets basic facts about Lacy: until his left shoulder went south, the dude was an excellent fighter. He beat a lot of very solid DeMarco type fighters convincingly and pretty easily. Like Buddy McGirt, people only seem to remember him after the injury when he wasn't nearly as effective.

He was at Broner's level. Not quite as skillful, maybe, but he was on that level.

 

If you are unable to see Broner's obvious talent and skillset, you need to question the scope in which you look at fighters and/or fighting in general.

 

In terms of style no, not alike at all.

But in terms of the hype for really doing nothing special or even looking that great, then yes. Not sold on Broner at all, he's a decent enough fighter but I very much doubt he'll go down as a great.

He has tried to market himself like Mayweather, he is no Mayweather. Broner's defence is nothing special, he's not overly gifted in terms of speed and power either. I just don't get why he has gained so much hype, when I watch him fight, I'm underwhelmed by what I see.

 

He was never at Broner's level and I never understood why people were picking him to beat Cal. He had no head movement, limited mobility, and his punches -thrown without proper technique- never seemed to land flush (seemingly always on the forehead or on the top of the head).

He was a big, strong guy who never really had one-punch power, which was supposed to be his calling card.

So basically what you are saying is disregard when he has looked bad against the only good opposition he has faced? He is 1-1 against the elite and you look the other way in his bad outing? It doesnt work like that.

 

Broner is on another ****ing planet to where Lacy was at any point during his career.

Broners hype is justified based on what we've seen skill-wise, maybe not on resume but certainly he's shown he has a very high skill level.

 

Definitely. They have very similar styles, though Lazy was a bit Slicker:roll:

 

Broner certainly looks a lot more skilled than Lacy ever did, and I think he probably is the real deal. But let's not kid on that his comp has been great.

Litzau has always been a glass jawed disgrace, Perez was literally dwarfed by Broner, Escobedo was brought down from 135 where he was dominated by Katsidis (and then Broner came in over weight) and DeMarco is good but limited and fought like an absolute ******. DPDL is the highest calibre fighter Broner has faced, and despite being completely outsized he still got a draw on my card. Now, I know Broner has looked much improved since then, but the hype surrounding the guy is shocking. The Ring pound for pound ranking makes a mockery of the sport.
