So a gift decision and a 7-5ish sort of fight is really the best evidence we have for a peak Canelo? That's a bit dissappointing, IMO. It's almost as if his one-sided loss to Floyd lowered the bar some. But surely that can't be the case, right? ...Right?
The same people who try to give credit to FLoyd by claiming that Canelo became the fighter he is because he learned so much from the Floyd fight seem to be the same people saying 30 year old Canelo was the same as 23 year old Canelo. lol
Mayweather would never fight at Middleweight or Super Middleweight so you're living in a fantasy world my guy. Mayweather schooled Canelo in one of his easiest fights ever deal with it. Mayweather only loses in fantasy scenarios which is the only thing you have.
I would say prime from Cotto to Bivol(or maybe Smith) he did look a bit slower against Saunders and Plant but those guys were slicker. His style changed a bit do to gaining weight and having to hunt down significantly taller men but his arsenal was complete by the cotto fight. I like Canelo, i like his style but it has to be said.... He looked most juiced up from kirkland/Cotto to GGG1. Looking redskinned and hulking, somehow even more muscular at 155 than even 168. He had to downsize for GGG2 and his body deflated a bit. Now looks hulking again after several years vs Charlo.
I don't know about that. Removing the size advantage, I really don't see any difference in Canelo. If you look at what lead to Floyd's success in their fight, it was timing the jab and good footwork, which allowed Floyd to dictate space and pace. Fast forward to the Bivol fight and it was Bivol's jab and footwork which carried him to an easy decision win. Bivol had an easier time because he had the size advantage. Top notch win for Floyd.
The best version of Floyd can't beat the best version of Clenelo. 160-168 Clenelo is much faster, bigger, stronger, and more powerful than 152 Clenelo. So obviously Floyd didn't beat the best version of Clenelo. We've already established this.
Like I said, the best version of Clenelo stomps the life out of the best version of Floyd. Floyd didn't beat the best version of Clenelo Anything else is just you making excuses and you trying to cope with this fact.
