152lb Canelo rehydrated to 165 pounds. He had at least a 15lb weight advantage on Floyd, who didn't cut or rehydrate.
Clenelo weighed 167 pounds at the WBC 30 day weigh in. He killed himself to make 152. That's 15 pounds he had to drop.
It’s very simple. He’d fought a lot of fights, but hardly against any world level fighters, and certainly not against any elite level guys. So: He wasn’t green in terms of fights, but he was green/in-experienced in big fights against top level opposition. There is nothing wrong with the above. That’s what happened. I’m not even a fan of his. And apart from the unnecessary and ridiculous C-W, Floyd deserves all the credit in the world for his performance. And especially at 36. But Canelo hadn’t beaten any great fighters. No legit world champions. Apart from fighting Trout and a shot Mosley, he’d hardly fought anybody. And he barely beat Trout. So there is no mental gymnastics.
Because 13 pounds would've been easy, right? He was still at 167 in order to preserve his weight advantage and be able to balloon back up after the weigh in... which he did. They clearly were not the same size in the ring. Canelo was two weight classes bigger.
Where did you get these fight night weights? Floyd refused to share his fight night weights long before he retired.
It also depends on who they fight. Just focusing upon the number of fights, is really no better than just focusing upon their age.
I can't upload the image here, but Flpyd weighed in at 150 1/2, then dropped to 150 on fight night. Canelo weighed in at 152, then 165 on fight night.
Right. So what experience did he have exactly? It also depends on who you fight, not just on how many fights you’ve had.
Some are okay. But when you’ve got one for 2 guys from the same division, that’s outrageous. It shouldn’t even have been allowed.
LOL. This shyt site won't let me upload images. Be a good man and google "Mayweather Canelo tale of the tape". Please don't give me a hard time here.
We don’t know how compromised Canelo was at the weight. But this is why what Floyd enforced was a joke. Because we’ll never know. Floyd took the shine off of his win. Also, Floyd was never stopping him.
Canelo didn’t have much big fight experience. He was inexperienced against top level guys. He wasn’t green in terms of fights, but certainly in terms of fighting top level guys. There’s nothing wrong in stating that. Did people tune in for the changing of the guard? There was no real suggestion of that. Maybe people were hoping to see that.
Two pounds only matter on the message boards. In real life, everyone knows that Floyd whupped his ass.
