I think Bruno was more famous in UK. We have a different culture now that helps AJ get the crowds. He is still massively popular though. My mum hates boxing, knew Bruno Eubank and Benn though and only knows who AJ is because I watched his last fight on plc in her house as was visiting.
Would he get mobbed in every part of Britain like that though? After Frank won the world title he done a celebration bus journey like what British clubs do when they win the champions league, AJ didn`t have that despite beating a much better opponent.
Bruno was huge, he was like the Ali of Britain, he had catch phrases and everything "wheres arry", "thats cricket", "pass the sauce". wheres AJ's catch phrases!
Never hear those, AJs is ,”stay humble, stay hungry ,” Dude is sponsored by under armour , Beats by Dre and Lucazade, I guess he ain’t popular , Bruno was sponsored by......who again?, maybe Nike missed out on the Bruno hype train Bruno was a unified ......erm, cool never held three titles Bruno proved his popularity and sold out stadiums in Wembley, Cardiff and O2...oh Yh he didn’t looool, BRUNO IS A LEGEND
It's all about which person has, or also will in the future... Bring more views to the BBC, and that's all it is. I find it an embarrassing award and personally wouldn't even be interested in it at all if I was someone like Anthony Joshua with my 3 shiny belts
I can only assume that the people who think AJ is as big as Bruno was in the UK, are just too young to remember Bruno's heyday. I doubt there was a sentient person in Britain who didn't know who Bruno was! Didn't matter if you were 7 or 70, you knew who Frank Bruno was. Charles Diana The Queen Margaret Thatcher Fergie Frank Bruno
This. I don’t think it’s possible for a fighter to be more popular and loved than Bruno in the UK.Every person you knew 100% knew who Bruno was
The attendance of Bruno's Wembley fights was around O2 Arena levels. His popularity was largely due to the tabloid press and no doubt with advertising and social media Joshua is much more famous with a wider global reach. Likeability is a different matter.
Frank was loved in UK and hw boxing was a big thing in those days . Holyfield, Tyson , Lewis . Bigger stars back then so more interest Social media has pumped it up a lot but the quality of the 90s heavyweights would have helped out Bruno Joshua is by far more famous worldwide
