I was a kid when this fight happened and it was embarrassment and then some for Duran he was a Saturday Night Live skit. That’s how big it was.

You can tell in the comments this gets to AJ fans. They try to bury these feelings, try to bury that fight, but late at night looking up at their AJ poster they know he's a spoiled bully clown who got bashed up by a 5'10 fat man fill-in who until that fight had never KO'd anybody significant.

We also have to put it in proper context, that AJ was there to 'conquer America' and the size difference was comical. The physical advantages AJ had were simply unbelievable, probably never seen before in a title fight.

People can shred Fury but never has he quit like that in the ring. The only one who comes close is AJ's hype-heir, Dubious.

Don't get me wrong, AJ is great, love to have him on a talk show and just be a bro with him, listen to his business brain and all that. Can't fault him as a man. I remember that time he put a roof over the head of some random single-mother and her child. Just straight up charity stuff. But he let himself down that night against Snickers.

AJ hasn’t quit, this was a case of him being disorientated by a good punch and not knowing fully what’s going on. Good punches from ruiz, he stopped AJ with them.

sometimes fighters in this state aren’t able to get up. Some are, but are legless (khan) or like AJ was.

He spat out his mouth guard and refused to move off the ropes. He was done.

No. The most embarrassing loss I've seen was Ruiz coming into their 2nd fight looking like he hadn't trained for more than a week.

I've never seen a HW Champion come into a title fight less prepared.

I think he tried to nick a little more time to regenerate, but the ref didn't let him and ended the fight. He didn't quit. He would be knocked out with a small blow, he was so wasted.

It's up there but Tiresome losing to a first time pro boxer trumps it.

Could he move off the ropes??

Did he know to move off the ropes and made a conscious decision not to?
