Povetkin will be a much tougher fight than Wilder would be

I think Povetkin /Joshua is a toss up

Leaning towards Povetkin, but only slightly

More skilled and has a more effective pressure/constantly come forward style than Parker had. And Parker was, overall, a tough style for Joshua to deal with

Picking Povetkin if this fight happens

I think Povetkin> Wilder as well, even though he's like a million years old. I favour Joshua at this point, but will be cheering for Povetkin. Sasha isn't afraid to make it a fight and AJ, if he wins, will know he's been in one. He hasn't faced accurate combination punching like this, ever.

A 32 year old version of Povetkin would be a favourite against the current version of AJ.

This current 38 year old and counting version is the under Dog. As we have seen a few times now in the past 3 years once a fighter starts knocking on the door of 40 they are no longer such a threat.

Yes Povetkin is open to that uppercut and Joshua's uppercut is probably his hardest punch based off the Wlad and Whyte fights. Like you say Povetkin can't just duck in like he usually does, otherwise he'll be eating bombs. He'll either need to take those shots and risk being KO'ed or to slip to the side when coming in.

Yeah we've seen a bunch of heavyweights near the upper end of 30 or around 40, losing to younger fighters of late. Ortiz, Wlad, Browne, Ustinov, Haye and Takam. Fact is when you get to this age you can suddenly look your age. Povetkin hasn't stepped up to elite level in some time, last time he fought someone who wasn't just there to pad his record was either Perez or Takam some 3 years ago. When he does step in with Joshua the jump up in class might every well expose how much he has really aged.

Excluding Fury, who may or may not return to top level, I see Povetkin and Wilder as being very clearly the two biggest threats to Joshua. Wilder's the bigger threat physically but Povetkin is a far more skillful boxer and criminally underrated by some here.

I think he's plenty strong enough to cause AJ major problems, particularly as he's such a fluid attacker following up his first punch with a flurry of well timed punches from different angles. He can KO his opponents with either hand. Joshua should keep him behind that jab until a few rounds have passed and age hopefully becomes more of a factor. If he mixes inside with him then it could be a very exciting if short fight and then it would become a 50/50 because either guy can deliver an end with one hit from there.

Aside from an aging Wlad, Povetkin will easily be Joshua’s toughest fight yet

As has been said, Povetkin is criminally underrated on this site

Povetkin is obviously at a size and possibly a slight power disadvantage, but he has a vast skill and experience advantage

Povetkin will confuse and control Joshua with his combination punching, pressure and constant movement in

Parker’s style was pretty effective at minimizing Joshua. Povetkin will be more so

Since AJ will play it EXTRA cautious for Povetkin like he has for his last two matches, he ain't gonna be walking down or wrestling with Sasha anyway, so no it won't be a factor.

What's Povetkin's best win recently? Takam? Wach? Any fighters close to Wlad's caliber? Nope, he isn't the favourite in this fight. I put the odds as 60 / 40 or probably 65 / 35 to the bodybuilder. Povetkin is near Parkers level. Punchers chance, yeah, but Joshua will fight cautiously, and take him out late I reckon.

lmao, parker has looked like horse**** every fight since stepping up to "top" level. hasn't been impressive in 2-3 years and at least five fights.

Povetkin will not be able to beat AJ or Wilder, no matter how much juice he puts into his body. Povetkin has poor head movement, Aj is gunna be lighting him up with the jab. I got AJ by late ko.

In retrospect in might have been but not at the time. Only after Povetkin was on on the ol meldonium did he start to put bodies on his resume. I think David Haye was Wlads best win personally.
