Is Alexander taking Brook as a bit of a given?

No, I haven't, and what the hell has me not hearing of Nigel Benn have anything to do with ignorance? You're just being moronic now.

Everyone starts at a particular point. You don't wake up and expect to know something. A few years ago, I knew nothing about the sport, and I can say with the utmost humility, that I've learnt so much about Boxing.

Snobby comments like that where you're trying to completely flip the conversation into something that is nothing to do with this, tells me a lot.

 

Forget the actual fight, it'll be more interesting to see who wins the battle of the manly voices.

I see Alexander winning this convincingly. The two things he struggles with are high workrate guys (Bradley and Matthysse), and pressure fighters with decent defence (Matthysse and Kotelnik - who fought a pressure style that night). Brook is neither of those things.

Reflex based guys who are used to being the faster guy often look poor when facing some as fast as they are. Alexander is a little quicker with his jab and a little more technically right in his punching and defence. So, as far as that goes - Brook will provide lots of opening in a way Devon does not.

However, Devon does have a habit of a) punching air and b) grunting just as he throws. Brook is quick enough and sneaky enough to time a right hand over that silly little pecking jab. But Devon has a solid chin and stood up to a ferocious beating from Matthysse. I can't see Brook repeating that feat.

So, I have this 70-30 in Alexander's favour. He's got the style, speed and decent power to give Brook a bad night. But if Brook can keep disciplined and focus on keeping Alexander out of position, he can sneak a points win.

 

Mo, I usually really like your posts, but this pro-Brook series has been hideous. Same for Widdy, who normally gets this stuff spot-on. Brook is, comparatively speaking, as average as they come. Alexander might only be a bit better, but he has a style that will cause Brook major problems.

 

Cant believe how underated brook is on this forum? Whats not to like about the guy? Everytime he fights his offense is class! His speed, reflexes and accuracy are up their with the top fighters in this division and he has decent power too. His defence isn't amazing but he has a decent chin and i cant recall DA being a huge puncher? He has knuckled down in training 10x more after the jones fight.
I'm going for kell brook late stoppage - possibly DA quitting on his stool

 

brook will win. more power, better speed (underrated by many people), steel rod jab, good timing, and more accurate than alexander. that's my opinion anyway. alexander isn't mayweather, he's easy to hit and with brook's power and steel rod jab, devon might not like it.

I've been pro-Brook since I started posting here, where you see average I see something rather good & likewise with Alexander I imagine. Admittedly I'm not very objective on the subject & Laz really grinds my gears.

I just dont see a stylistic advantage for Devon in this. Kell will have problems dealing with his handspeed but Alexander isnt an accurate sniper or an iron-chinned pressure fighter, either/or would cause Brook major problems imo.

 

What power ??? when has he shown power beyond british level hitting Carson Jones with everything for 6 rounds perhaps shows how little power the ***** has got as much as i dislike uh uh man he has fought at a totally different level can you see Brook beating up maidana ?

 

Brook can punch, he has a good punching technique, its stamina and experience I feel that let him down?

I posted why I think Brook is up against it - Brook doesn't do any of the things that Alexander struggles with. Styles don't really come into it. Devon may not have the offensive prowess that will make him clobber Brook easily, but Brook doesn't have the things needed to make Alexander look bad.

And I like Alexander? Ugh. Can't stand him, his arrogant trainer, or his vile high-volume, low accuracy style. I thought Kotelnik and Matthysse beat him close but clear and his limitations are painfully clear. Bradley made him look like a complete amateur.

Devon isn't up to much, but I haven't been impressed by Brook at all.

 

What's are the odds for this fight?

I don't think brook can knock him out so he will have to win Atleast 8 convincing rounds to stand a chance
