He's one of the most respected, loved and held in high regard because of what he represented and the times where he fought. There was a big civil rights movement at the time and he didnt back out from his responsibility like athletes like Jordan and many others now do. He fought for the people and spoke for them and for that i like him a lot, and sometimes he's overrated in his boxing career for the same reasons.

Not bad, but not well recieved. He wasnt always beloved like he is today. I dont think Tyson or Foreman were bad guys either. But today they are a lot more likeable.

who else then? we're talking of icons here, boxers who are known even by non-boxing fans or the public in general, and not just famous boxers.

That will never again happen in America lol. Ali was the man.

The one and only thing I can say bad about Ali. I wish we could interview Ali and see what he says on the matter and why he did it.

Frazier needs to let it go though. That documentary that was made on him really gives you a insight on the pain and anger he still holds inside him. That was centuries ago Frazier needs to let it go already. He seems like a grumpy old man still living in the past.

An icon is an enduring symbol, like a representation of a given era. SRL epitomized boxing in the 80s and overshadowed hearns and hagler. In terms of popularity, everyone knew who SRL was. If you take one boxer to represent that era in boxing, who would you take? Hagler, Hearns or SRL? Same logic goes for Foreman.

I agree he should let it go. Not because I think forgiveness is so important or anything, but just for himself. It is literally eating away at him. I think it will be much healthier for him to move past it.

Yeah he seems like its still eating away at him big time. If he hasn't let it go by now he never will. He'll take that pain to the grave. Sad, but we'll never understand how Ali made him feel so what else can we say.

Ali made out to be Frazier "the white mans" HW champ. A ******, etc. I'm sure Frazier went through alot.
