The only American HW of note has been Arreola and Eddie Chambers. From the most obese country in the world, why has there been no decent HW fighters?

Chambers can beat some guys in the top ten (Povetkin rematch maybe, Chagaev, Adamek). Tony Thompson will never beat a Klitschko and he's about 50 but he can still beat fringe contender. And there's Arreola. And that's it.

Mitchell- will be a titlist. Only 28 and still learning the craft. Massive power in both hands and relentless agressor. Chin is ONLY question mark.

Welliver- could become a titlist if he works on his power. Still only 28 yo and only now coming into his prime.

Rodriguez....perfect against Clevel LOC, but can't seem to get fixated on the Blevel to get his shot. He's turned down by a couple Blevels, then focuses solely on the world title. 34, but his body is younger. Ends his fights early and doesn't sustain much damage. Will he recover from the assualt New Yrs Eve? Who knows.

Chambers....Proven, solid Blevel fighter. Doesn't fight lower LOC, but his body is prone to injury.

Thomspon....old, but proven at the Blevel. Too bad it took him till he was 36 to get a better LOC.

Wilder.......great potential. Still young and his wins are all dominating. Hoping he'll step solidly into the Clevel this year and not digress.

Nipples.........if he'd ever try to step up his LOC. So many offers, but he goes and fights Clevel guys when Blevel guys are calling him out by the dozen.

Banks....needs to step up competition and get outta sparring partner mentality

Grant.....old and unpredictable. Could still wins a title if he gets a shot vs Adamek when Vitali vacates. It's clearly a possibility.

Lawrence..........decent resume, badly underrated. Turned pro late and has digressed in LOC. We'll see if at 35 he can get back on track with better LOC and make a run at the title.

KJ......contract disputes slowed his roll for a few yrs after his disgraceful showing against Vito. But a new fire seems to have been lit in him, and when he beats Leapei, we can be assured Wlad or Potvetkin will be on his radar.

Why has no-one mentioned 33-0 Malik Scott yet? The Klitschkos are clearly ducking this slick African-American. His resume fills them with terror. Imagine the same team winning the Super Bowl 33 years in a row.

Amir "Hardcore" Mansour would be a top prospect as well if he stopped getting himself jailed.

American has been on the downside lately. Especially with Floyd making them lose face also. Floyd is American best but he's afraid to fight an Asian midget.

so explain how the UK can produce MW/SMW/LHW when they have more pro football teams (soc'cah) (over 90 in total) in that small country than the USA has NFL teams with a population of 320 million?

Is this a serious comment? If it is, you must not be familiar with American football. In American football, physical size is often of utmost importance. Thus, big, talented, potential boxers go for the more easily attainable riches of pro football. It's not like soccer where the ability to kick a ball, not size, is the key.

its interesting that since the introduction of steroid testing in american boxing matches in 2002, there has been a huge decline in american heavyweights operating at world class level.

    Fine, NBA basketball as well.

What would a reasonable young man choose, go to College and get a degree which can help guarantee future money then try his hand at a sport that pays more for average players or go to a sport that only guarantees some level of brain damage and if you don't make it to super Nova status you will probably at best during your career take home $100K/yr if you are very lucky.
