    Manny Pacquiao?

The reason why I'm asking this is cos some time back I saw a thread (Khan v Pacquiao) and one of the responses was Manny would be essentially fighting a clone of himself a clone with obv less power than himself but similar speed.

Cos like I see alot of Manny in Amir. In the Marcos fight the way he just stayed on the ropes (prob for a breather) but in turn got heavy uppercuts or the way he taps his gloves. Also in the Judah fight round 5 seemed to me as if Manny was fighting for Amir LOL.

What do you think guys? What are the similarities and differences btw the two fighters? How can they get better? Is emulation a bad thing?

Every trainer has his own style and makes his mark on a fighter.

Yeah bro i agree... Maybe it's to do with Freddie's teaching style...But poor Linares... what a warrior... he should have stepped back rather than getting hit by those bombs lol... but hey i guess it's easier to say than do. Hope he gets a rematch. Was a good fight to watch... well it was better than the b hop fight LOL

i think the rematch would be interesting but i think demarco would be better in a rematch i just think he struggled finding his range in there beginning of the fight but he showed as the fight went on and he started finding it he could hurt linares with punches.....also his arms are long as **** its crazy

Nah. There are definitely similarities, but that's to be expected when they often train and spar together.

They're both more aggressive than defensive, although Khan is more of a boxer type, working off the jab, using a lot of movement, and using ambush tactics with combinations. He's more stiff and upright in his approach, too -- he likes keeping people at range with those long arms. Pac, on the other hand, is much more fluid. He's constantly shifting from side to side and he shoots punches from angles that Khan wouldn't attempt. Pac doesn't really use Khan's strategy of using the jab as a main weapon, either...he actually does better with left hand leads. When people close the distance against Khan, he often attempts to clinch or simply tie them up. Pac, on the other hand, often looks to counter them with his right-hook, and he's better at throwing combinations in the pocket and then pivoting away.

They both have defensive holes, although Khan's are more serious, and he's more vulnerable, too. He often relies on tightening his guard like a turtle, while Pac is more flexible and uses more head movement.

well i believe forums should be people who can look at a fight or fighters in a unbiased way not just fanboys arguing with each other and just wasting peoples time
i just enjoy the sport and talking about it btw i think demarco will probably fight morales first rather than a straight away rematch i seen him keep looking at morales through the whole fight and when he was celebrating looking over towards him i think this will be a big fight for mexico and quite intruiging

Khan is better at controlling distance than Manny, with a better jab (as well as being slightly faster), he also has a more orthodox approach.

Pac has better power and is more fluid with his offense compared to Khan though, as well as having better head movement and being a lot more durable.

Outboxer has replied to a couple of my earlier threads when I joined esb. He's so articulate that i actually understand him; he backs his answers with facts and also gives his own honest personal opinions. He's great; wish i had the boxing knowledge he has :)

True. I guess you could also compare Khan to a guy like Wlad in a lot of ways too, with his straight up style :think
