Is Amir Khan a mediocre fighter, or proof that boxing is hard?

There are so many guys with Olympic medals, big promoters or other pedigrees who never even win world titles.

I'm not saying Amir and his management didn't make mistakes. Amir was very arrogant before his last fight, talking about how he outdid Pacquiao in all areas.

Then there's the demand for Roach to be exclusive to Khan.

But boxing is hard. Even a gold medalist like De La Hoya couldn't take on or beat all comers. Same for Sugar Ray Leonard. Now Amir is a notch below DLH and much further away from SRL, but boxing is hard, and maybe he was good, but not great.

Not even close to being mediocre. He actually has a solid enough resume for his age (the losses stand out quite a bit though).

The biggest message Khan's career has sent so far is not only that boxing is hard, but even more so, the transition from amateur to professional is even harder. Oh, and one more point, physical attributes do not always hide technical deficiencies.

:-( Not helping his fan base. Needs to keep that childish mouth quiet and concentrate on actually learning the sport rather than judging and putting blame on everyone else.

Khan mediocre??? is he fuk i love posts like this.

He is a world class fighter with a shaky chin and defence, world class speed, decent punching power and a fighters heart.

He has been beaten twice by stoppage - and once by a cheat.

Hes won 26 fights and beaten some top tier fighters along the way...Paulie, Maidana, Judah.

Hes a world class fighter - but short of the elite. Mediorce??? Nah he just has some areas hes really weak in and others where hes a really good. I imagine if he gets past Molina he will pick up another belt at some stage.

He was doing well against Garcia but he didnt adjust to the fact he was getting cought with the left and eventually DG found a huge shot and it was game over, tho Khan did hes best to fight on if his ring IQ had been better he might have survived.

Average (in pro boxing terms) would have meant he didnt get past Commonwealth or maybe British title level (no shame in winning either) as it is he has already won 2 world titles against good opposition.

When Khan looses he gets underated and trashed to sin, win and he will be over rated again. Hes a very good fighter but hes in the pack behind the likes of Bradley at the minute

    For the record

Even Khan's worst asset (punch resistance) isn't "mediocre"

boxing is hard plain and simple. khan is better then mediocre fighter, he still is one of the best at his division. i just knew he was never the best at his weight and never will be, but he's still a good fighter. he can give the american guys a good run for there money. most fighters cant do that unless we talking about froch.

Khan is a good fighter. A very good fighter. And yes Boxing is very hard for anyone.

Manny Pac and Wlad both got Ko'd twice early in there career. As brutal KO's as Khan.

I think Khan needs to adobt differant styles. And know when to just outbox someone and not look to exchange. He did t once against kotelnik.

But yes Khan is a vgood fighter. You don't beat Maidana, Malignaggi, Judah and Kotelnik being average.

A mediocre fighter is a fighter that typically gets his ass kicked by the type of fighters that Amir typically beats the **** out of. And those guys are the ones that would kick most people's asses if they decided to go fight them at the gym right now.

    Boxing IS extremely hard.

As much as I criticize Khan for his poor technical skills, I'm comparing it to WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS.

I refuse to call any world class fighter, a guy in the top 10 of his division, hell, a gate keeper or fringe contender, a "mediocre" fighter.

Boxing is hard, but Khan is no mediocre fighter he has wins over Kotelnik who arguably beat Alexander in his next fight, Maidana, Judah and Malignaggi. All 4 rated top ten in the World.

Khan is by no means a mediocre fighter.
He just has a couple of clear weaknesses that prevent him from (ever?) being a elite level fighter.
