    Both were great physical specimens
    Both were great combination punchers
    Both had very good speed

    as well as...

    Newcastle(FC)-esque defences
    Shockingly poor punch resistance.

I always liked Leushing, always looked the part and punched the part, shame he couldnt handle it when people punched back, fun fighter to watch though

Its a fair post, but I will reserve judgement until we see what Freddie Roach can do with him.

The Freddie factor is a huge one. Dont underestimte what this guy can do for Amir Khan.

Khan might not need to rely on that chin too much after Roach has done with him. Freddie is THAT good.

The worrying thing for Khan is the level that his chin has caused problems at, as he moves into genuine world class his chin will get tested again and by better opponents than have had him in trouble already. I could see Roach being able to adjust/ improve the style of a fighter with a below average chin so that he keeps away from the big power shots but Khans chin seems to be a whole level down from "below average" and thats just at the level he's been fighting at so far. I don't think it would take a power shot from some of the fighters out there to have him on rubber legs and vunerable.

It's a good comparison! Knocked out in an early fight against an unheralded apponent, beat an old name fighter (Kirkland Laing...will have to wait and see about Barrerra!), similar strengths and weaknesses. I can see a similar career route for Khan, getting revenge over Prescott, getting put in with a real top class opponent, outboxing them for a few rounds then getting knocked out again (Lueshing had knocked Tito down and was ahead on the cards when he was KOed).

Leushing. My god there's a name I haven't heard in a while. I remember him putting Tito on his ass. That just upest Tito of course. You know what, it's very possible that Khan is modern day Leushing, I'll reserve judgement though.

    Like Matt says, good comparison.

Saunders was a noted banger, despite his record. Lueshing was also strictly a counter puncher with a wicked left hook... his right hand was pretty useless. I'd say Khan is a far better fighter but is a tad more vulnerable then Lueshing who only suffered KD's against big hitters. Good call though.

    Roach can't do anything.

It's not even proper punches that hurt this guy. Cuffing shots put him on the deck, take his legs away.

Your right TFFP Khan has a weakness taking punches to the top and sids of his head... Derek Roche had the same problem. Fairly ok taking punches on the snoz but loses all sense of balance when clocked hard around the top of the head. I never minded getting a whack in the face but sometimes would get disorientated by shots elsewhere.

I think what we may see is Khan perform better against the more technically correct fighters - ones that jab and use straight punches before moving onto hooks..... perhaps Khan could telegraph the hooks and get on his bike when necessary.

Wild sluggers, pressure fighters and those with a good array of slashing/hooking shots will always have his number.

Michael Gomez was (well, is) well past his best, and above his weight class, but still nearly cut him in half with a body shot after decking him with little more than a cuffing shot that barely landed.

The Gomez that fought Alex Arthur (or even the one of a couple of years later) would have finished him off, by simply whacking him to the body some more.

Errol Christie would be a good comparison as well.

Pac looked just as fragile until Roach got a hold of him and began working with him around the clock. Who knows what he can do with Khan.

Quite possibly one of THE MOST stupid comments I have read, on any forum...EVER.

To make a sweeping statement that Roach cant do anything is a joke, granted Roach may not turn Khan into a World Champion, but to say he will do nothing is very dim to say the least. Over two rounds against an Irish journeyman I saw some changes in Khan from previous bouts against similar journeymen.

and the worrying ease with which he was taken out by prescott. :patsch

i wouldn't have been so disturbed had it been a single blow that did all the damage.

but khan had a chance to recover and didn't have a clue.

he just got totally wasted. :bart
