Is Andre Dirrell the biggest waste of talent in the past 5 or even years?

I mean seriously I had high hopes for the guy I thought he beat Froch, put on a clinic against Abraham and would give Andre Ward the most trouble if they ever fought now hes gone inactive for almost a year yet again he got rid of Al Haymon (who the **** does that) in favor of 50 cent and SMS (I like 50 cent in all but come on) Thoughts?

Just one of those athletically gifted fighters that has no business in a boxing ring.

He's around Ward's age...younger than many top guys in and around is division.

Way too soon to write him off.

It's such a shame his heart doesn't seem to be in it. Compare him to a fighter like Froch who is devoid of natural talent and athleticism but gets by on grit and determination. It just goes to show how talent alone will only get you so far.

He frustrates me! He could be a top guy if he applied himself. I don't know much about him other than his super 6 fights but he seems abit mentally weak

he skills are there, but the fighting heart and mentality is not. and you need that when stepping into the ring.

Meh there's a bit of a myth developing around Dirrell - that he was some absolute world beater / p4p legend in waiting.

    I don't think it's deserved.

He obviously had a very good skill set but heart, guts, mentality - all those psychological intangibles appeared not to be there. And you don't get to the top without them.

The 'schooling' of Froch is completely overblown - didn't do enough to win that fight IMO and it's a close fight whatever way you saw it. Even if you score it for Dirrell I don't see how it can be by more than 1 or 2 rounds.

He was doing a number on Abraham but the tide was definitely turning in the later rounds and I'd have given Abraham a decent shot of getting him out of there (legitimately).

Those are the 2 fights which Dirrell's reputation is built upon; there's very little else on his resume to suggest he was a potentially great talent.
