The need to fight abroad does get overstated. If a fighter can make more money fighting in his own backyard then why should go abroad and make less? But with Ward, going abroad would bring him a bigger purse. If a fighter declines more lucrative fights abroad then you do have to wonder why he has chosen to do this. The Eastern euros who have traveled to America have done so because that is where the money is for them not because the US is some magical home of boxing. Kovalev fought Pacal in Canada because that's where the most money was for that fight. DeGale fought Dirrell in the US because they lost the purse bid, they wanted the fight in the UK but Dirrell's team came up with the bigger bid. Ward doesn't need to fight abroad unless the big fights where he can make the most money are overseas.
Probably will be, just yet I would say no as he has not fought for so long but once he adds some more names to his record I think he will be a dead certain to be in the HOF.
well the other major smw to get in hof is calzaghe. Now ward eclipsed calzaghe, in his first title fight by destroying Kessler. so its fair to say if joe cal is there, ward is there, but well above him, not a backdoor entry like joe. however I think hofer status should be reserved for retirement or near retirement.
The words of a butt-hurt cuckold ! Joe defeated the same Kessler when he was prime and undefeated, and without using his head as a third fist. Clearly, the better win of the two.
I like dealing with facts also, as it is good to stick with them. You are mentioning Ward has fought in other places than America, but miss the fact that none of those were as a world champ but only in earlier stage fights of his career, which is something many fighters do. Many fighters fight in different countries and locations when on the way up, consider one of Hattons early fights was in the states as was one of Cleverlys early fights. You are comparing Ward and Froch but I cant recall Ward being the away fighter at any time in a world title fight which is where there is more on the line rather than the early learning fights. The times you noted Froch fought outside of the UK were not all as early learning fights but some fights where a world title was on the line which is not something Ward has done as of yet. Another fact that is incorrect is that Froch has fought outside of the UK in 5 world title fights as well as in America in an earlier career fight, so in total has fought outside of England 6 times Froch has fought outside England 6 times Ward has fought outside America 2 times Ward has not been the away fighter in a world title fight Froch has been abroad for 5 world title fights
Froch has to travel, Ward doesn't. Simple as. Why go away from home comforts just so that irrelevant online personalities might like you more? That ain't how life works thankfully.
Calzaghe's biggest apologist. Man an not gonna read that long shyt, I ain't got time that that. Your hero couldn't carry Ward's jockstrap.:hey
Ward has some good names on his resume. But I look at it as an incomplete resume. Its lacking. He hasn't even fought 30 fights yet.
Ward states in his lawsuit against Dead Goossen that he should have been marketed like Floyd and making the same money. Inactive, quiet church boys don't become PPV stars!! Even Pacquiao had to cheat on his wife to make money.
Its not about quantity, its about quality. In 18 years as a professional, Mayweather has only fought 48 x.
