Bika should be in the tournament though. It makes no sense to add Johnson and Bika at the same stage, and only let Johnson remain. I do think he's been lucky. He's probably going to have four fights in Oakland and the final will undoubtedly be in America. Whilst everyone else has travelled, he hasn't, and if this tournament has proved anything, it's that fighting away from home is a disadvantage. If Ward had been DQed against Kessler, I don't think anyone would have complained. Some of those were blatant.
about 2 points. not only Dirrell was out from tourney so why they didnt give points in that case? Why bika is not fighting in S6?
No, and the things he gets accused of are tactics tons of fighters use and have used, including Hopkins and other all time greats.
Bika?, Ward protected? Let me guess, you're a British Calzaghe fan who's now supporting the retired "ATG :rofl" Kessler?
He would've fought someone miles ahead of Green in Taylor but we know how that went. Dirrell pulled out so that sucks too. Ward is very good and I think he'll have an interesting fight against Bika. His best win and first of the tournament was against Kessler so yeah I wouldn't say he's protected. It is unfortunate for him that Taylor & Dirrell pulled out. Not Ward's fault.
Yeah I question the amount of people on here that actually study boxing and not just find baseless reasons to hate fighters. Armstrong used to put head on people too yet when Ward does it he's "dirty" to some people. Holy sometimes would come in with his head and the list goes on...
He is lucky that he fights only in his hometown but that was something him & his team saw so they toke advantage. I don't like it one bit but they had a right to do so.
Ward being an excellent boxer has nothing to do with him being protecetd at the same time. I feel both are true, his ability is awesome and he is protected.
I wanted to see Taylor v Ward as much as some wanted to see Ward v Dirrell. Because I thought that Taylor's boxing was extremely attractive for the eyes of judges and that combined with the lack of power of Ward could have turned into a very close fight... probably a SD for Ward but it was in my mind a faaaaar more exciting fight than Ward v Green. I always felt like the super six has done Taylor an injustice by robbing him from a title chance. The chances of him getting ko'ed was almost 0 ( thinking that AA and Froch almost didn't succeed themselves )
In terms of opposition? Clearly no as he's still participating in the S6 and has beaten Kessler and Green easily. Sure, he fights only in his hometown but it hasn't made a difference yet because Ward simply didn't need gift decisions when he schooled Kessler, Green, Miranda and sure as hell Bika soon. Or did you find his wins controversial (apart from 'accidential headbutting')? The guy's the real deal and must fear nobody.
