so if im wards next opponent im coming down with a son of god robe and banner seeing as we are all sons of god and claimimg god is on my side, he cant be on both
I too find god talk distasteful in sports, however Ward is not arrogant - he is religious and there is a (small) difference.
He's far from the most arrogant guy. There might be a whiff of it about him, but he's young after all and has kinda earned the right.
The Bible tells us to pray for all things. Ward gives glory to Jesus with lots of faith and thats the best for winning all battles.
so its cool to thank a million sponsors and your grandma but ward is 'unlikeable' for thanking god?!? this is bs he's a humble guy and even if he wasn't i wouldn't care cause i tune in to see BOXING!!
I'm pretty sure God has more things to be worried about than who wins in a boxing match. So are you trying to say Ward has a superiority complex? All I see it as is a person who is religious. If you hang around people who are super religious, they thank God for everything. People say the same thing about Tebow. Arrogant IMO is Floyd, Amir, Ali, Hopkins, Mayorga, etc. I don't get the same vibe with Ward. He doesn't even talk trash about his opponents
He can thank whoever he wants. He's not shoving anything down anyone's throats. Nobody is forcing you to watch his interviews. Just watch the fights. If Ward came out and said "there is no god" I doubt you would be complaining. If he was arrogant he would take all the credit and give God none.
exactly if people dont like it they need to just switch off at the interview and stop crying like bitches not every boxer is gonna come out with **** like 'im gonna eat your children'....
Ward is one of the most humble people boxers out there. As for him calling himself Son of God that's scriptural: John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Just believe on the name of Jesus makes you the 'Son of God'. And as for him thanking God that's scriptural as well. His faith is in God and God says we should give him thanks. It's difficult of course to understand this if you are outside looking in.The natural man can not understand these things because they are spiritually discerned. When someone is saved everything they do is through Christ, every small bit. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Ward had to thank God because that's where he gets his strength from. Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. You will also remember when God healed some blind people or those with leprosy, only one came back to thank him and he asked where are the rest? Does God have nothing better to do with his time?Nothing is better than taking care of his children and he can also multi task.
Pretty much an exact copy of how i feel about it, and since you stated it so well, i'm not gonna try to better it :good
Would just like to add to the discussion, that if i personally had won an olympic gold medal in a 114-5 amateur career and then proceeded to go 25-0 as a pro winning 2 major titles, the Ring belt and the super six trophy while beating 2 elite opponents and a bunch of other solid guys, i would be a shitload more arrogant about it than Ward is LOL.
