Is Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev going to be a flop?

i mean, josh's last two opponents have a combined ago of near 80. just saying..when did that ever happen before the klitschko era began.

not counting rematching uncle walccott, i believe.

the trouble is josh is talking the talk, but he aint walking. his free pass for being green has run out.

In reply to the original poster, no it won’t be a flop. AJ will win by a spectacular knockout. If somehow he loses then it would be worth the buy money too.

Undercards don’t need to be stacked when he rolls in to town but this one is fairly decent.

Whyte as limited as he is, is rarely involved in a poor fight. He’s added against Helenius now.

Johnson Buglioni should be decent.

Kal Yafai against Ishida.

Then Katie Taylor (if your in to that sort of thing).

 

I walked past a pub weeks ago and they were already advertising AJ Pulev. Not only that, they had a painting of likeness of the two fighters on the window. Not only that, they had a price tag of 10 or 15 quid and a table deal for 60 quid ! Admittedly it was a posh "pub" in the loosest sense (sofas etc.) near Islington green and I guess they limit the numbers inside anyway but it goes to show how commercially marketable AJ is right now.

 

60 quid for a table deal? Think I’ll bring my own table at that price.

 

I'm still not wholly convinced by Joshua. Pulev is a cro magnon type tough nut that could expose him.

I assumed the table seats several people.

I simply couldn't believe the place was charging entrance fee at all for television of such an ordinary fight.

 

Wlad was the toughest opposition out there. AJ can't do nothing about the division his in.

 

Watching sky trying to promote this trash card last night was cringe saying something like it has an amazing undercard Katie Taylor lol

 

i really dont think a 42 year old, who got bowled out easy when prime by nbodies, is the toughest opposition out there.

If he gets passed a top 5 HW in Pulev as planned, then surely he has the best resume in the division, Parker is up there too with wins over Takam, Ruiz & H. Fury but other than that I can't think of anybody else with a comparable resume certainly not Wilder.

 

someone with a full tank who can box would be an opponent who could test joshua for 12 rounds.

 

In all fairness to Eddie Hearn the villain here is the IBF.
If AJ didn't take this fight he would have been stripped.

 

Will it flop? Doubt it, it'll sell well like always. The undercard is pretty ordinary. Whyte is in a garbage fight that might end up being decent to watch because he isn't very good himself. Yafai's fight will *probably* be a complete formality. People will pay for it still though, they always will.

I've no issue with the main event though. It's a mando, Pulev is a top 10 guy too. It's fine
