The difference between the two is, Calzaghe has been a consistent, dominant fighter for years. Tarver was a B level fighter before catching his break against a faded Jones, where he gave him a good fight in the first, and beat a shot Jones in the next two. The fact that he did lose to Johnson showed his level. He won the Johnson trilogy, and then lost to an old Hopkins, the only A level fighter of the bunch, though Jones was considered one at the time he beat him.

Calzaghe is a much more skilled fighter, a much higher level fighter than Tarver, which is a large part of the reason he is seen so much higher, his ability, rather than resume. His resume is better as well though, and much more consistent, as is his performance.

Calzaghe is no ATG, by the way. He's a great fighter, and immensely skilled, but not an All Time Great at this point due to his lacking resume.

If Antonio Tarver got into the IBHOF, it would be an insult to Donald Curry, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, and Esteban De Jesus.

True, very true, even a guy like Buddy McGirt.

Every **** gets in the HOF these days, but this clown certainly shouldn't

I love how people forget about losses on resumes

The sum of his achievements are a decent win over Griffin, a win over Johnson in battle of the zimmerframes, and a win over a completely shot weight drained Jones in battle of the zimmerframes II

Inbetween this he also has losses to both of the latter, a schooling from a 68 year old former middleweight and a loss to Eric Harding

    Please NO

Thats a fair post, I just think if some people want to consider Calzaghe an ATG, then Tarvers a hall of famer. If tarver beats Dawson, do you think that will be enough to get him the nod or does he have to beat another good fighter to get in the hall?

If he beats Dawson, pigs will fly.

But let's just indulge that big "if" and say he does beat Dawson. Then it would depend on what Dawson went on to accomplish, as he is still young. Though, if Dawson lost to Tarver, I doubt the hype on him would continue.

Fair enough, but a win over Dawson and say Woods, I feel is enough to get him in the hall, especially if he dominates the both of them, which I doubt will happen.

If Dawson managed to lose to Tarver, he definitely wouldn't be worth the rave reviews

I've seen Dawson against Adamek and Harding, and no way he loses to this oaf

I'd agree, but I also highly doubt it would happen.
