...losing interest in MMA? :think Amidst the mainstream 'explosion', the 'taking it to the next levelness' of the UFC as a brand, and just general progress of the sport, I think I've pretty much become a casual, at best, fan. Now, I don't know any 'real' MMA fans in person, and haven't been to Sherdog since the late Mesozoic so, my question to you guys is, is there an emergence of the MMA curmudgeon? Or is it, as they say, just me?
WTF dude i'm so pumped for UFC 84. This card is going to ****ing amazing and one of the best cards of the year. I'm so nervous for Wand. Penn vs Sherk is going to be so intense and Dana thinks he's feeding Tito to Machida. :yep If this card has'nt perked you up a bit, damn. :-(
Silva is one of my fave. fighters, but I think he's old and over the hill and stands a good chance of losing to a 'B' version of himself. :| Sherk/Penn - Sherk is smaller and not as good as Hughes. People are picking him on the off chance BJ will gas? :huh Tito, shot. Machida, barely know who he is. Doesnt excite me, I'm afraid. :bart
Im exactly the same as i was. I never went over excited about MMA so i guess it never "burned out". I still enjoy boxing and MMA as much as i used to.
Oh god, what are you one of those "oh this band is so underground I'm so cool because they are so obscure and nobody knows about them but me" followed by "oh they sold out, everybody likes them now, I don't like them anymore, its not edgy and cool anymore" types? If BJ/Sherk isn't exciting to you, this is not your sport.
Ive been having UFC 84 dreams since Monday so no im not losing interest in MMA its a ****ing passion of mine.
I was never an MMA 'geek'. I suppose the disarray in the world of MMA heaveyweights typifies one of the big factors in my recent uhm...'disaffection' - none of the best fighters are in the UFC (the only place that could even conceivably accomodate most of 'em) - so are we going to have 10 Heaveyweight Champs who can never fight each other in a couple of years? The interest that is left, for me, is a bit like the seniors tour in boxing with ODLH and mayweather and like - big names fighting big names without a great deal at stake, eg Randy/Fedor.
It's the total opposite for me. I'm really just getting into the sport and it's great. Can't wait for UFC 84 tonight. And even after that I've got to watch some of the older fights that I have missed.
I lost interest several month ago...(last year)...What i would do is just get excited for a single fight nothing more...sometimes i wouldn't bother watching certain mma events... However , i'm slowly gaining more and more interest again , because different "big" orgs are emerging and proposing an alternative to the ufc
I'm waiting for mma to go through another "golden era" if you will... For me , mma's last golden era (short lived but amazing)...was from 2001-2006
I went through a period where I was obsessed by it. When Pride disintegrated I kind of lost interest, I like the UFC but was and never will really be a fan, despite its roster of fighters now.
Are you one of those people who think the Heavyweight division is the end all and be all? Cause generally speaking, HW's historically (in boxing and MMA) are usually fairly weak talent wise and entertainment wise, compared to the smaller classes.
How about the Affliction Banned card, MAIN CARD (PAY PER VIEW) Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo Ben Rothwell vs. TBA Paul Buentello vs. Aleksander Emelianenko* Matt Lindland vs. Fabio Nascimento Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. Mike Whitehead Hopefully they can make Rothwell-Arlovski happen. But, if Heavyweights are your thing and those fights don't do it for you, I guess you're done with it.
