Is anybody worried about James Toney's weight loss hurting him?

Definitely a worry of mine. It's not going to help that the rapid weight loss will be compounded by the rapid fading of his reflexes, his diminished punch resistance, his complete lack of movement, and his age. Toney's first stint at cruiserweight would've seen him destroy Lebedev with ease, but I think he'll get outworked and beat up here.

Depends on how he actually lost the weight.

james toney could have taken diuretics to lose his weight he's still gonna beat that chump.

borenard has been ducking lights out for years and lights out will show you once again why.

The last time I saw a heavyweight, who relies on defense and counter punching, cut too much weight too fast I witnessed Chris Byrd have massively decreased punch resistance, even weaker punches, and actually be relatively slower at that weight. I dread what JT is going to look like. I suspect he will get hit less than Byrd did in his fight against George (Lebedev isn't exactly fast or sharp) but I think he will get caught, and I think he will look worse than ever before. Lebedev TKO via higher work rate and a Toney who can't pull the trigger or keep pace.

He's lost it over a long period of time and the guy is a former middleweight so it's not like he's going to be drained at 200. In fact I think he could lose even more and still be healthy (with more time of course).

The problem is that he's shot to pieces and the weight loss isn't going to matter much.

Yeah I know the weigth loss is good for him, but factor in his age, how long he's been at the weight and how long it took him to cut, it raises a few concerns

Toney will be fine. He has had plenty of time to take it off the right way. All he had to do was eat right and stay in the gym which is something he said he had been doing. He is going to WIN BY KNOCKOUT!

Pretty close anyway. JT had better punch resistance than expected, but he has always been exceptional in that department. As for his speed, sharpness etc..that was exactly as predicted.

The weight loss could be a factor, but Toney has been doing this a long time, and is a professional, master boxer.
I seriously doubt that he isn't at least 90% prepared for this bout.
With Lebedev's limited skills, I doubt that Toney will need to be at more than 80%.

The fight just happened. Toney looked to be about 3-5% of his former self.
