I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a Chavez fan quite yet but after seeing some of his fights I've become an admirer of his style and I love his fights. Maybe that does make me a fan lol but for the longest I was and still am a big Meldrick fan. Me watching Chavez/Taylor was like me watching Mosley/Mayweather because I was rooting for both of them because I am also a fan of May and Shane. I am probably considered a fan of both Chavez & Taylor but also want to find out if anyone here too is a fan of both of them too. Sorry I sound confusing lol.
I also can't muster the courage to watch the Chavez/ODLH fights because it pains me to see Chavez get beaten like that.
Im a big fan of Meldrick Taylor and he has the fastest hands ive ever seen, i think people forgot just how great he was pre-Chavez. However im a bigger Chavez fan and was going crazy when he pulled out the last second ko over Taylor. Probably the most exciting moment in Boxing for me.
Of course man. You don't have to be loyal to one exact style of fighting and Chavez's and Taylor were like night and day. I have mad respect for both fighters.
I love both equally lol. I never like to see my guys getting ko'd but that was a highlight moment of Chavez' career and he showed his greatness. Being able to maintain his focus and slow Taylor down with bodyshots and effective punching really helped set up the knockout. In no way was that a lucky shot lol. Alright thanks. I'm getting used to being an inside fighter on FNR4 and will start a career mode with Chavez.
Im a pretty big Chavez fan...though obviously there are Chavez fans and there are Chavez fans, I think people know the difference. If I was a really ardent Taylor fan I would have almost been in tears that night...that kid left it all in the ring, ****ed himself for the rest of his career by fighting to win and not fighting to survive..then to have the fight stopped like that, must have been hard. At any rate Ive got a lot of love for Taylor aswell...his performance against McGirt is also noteworthy.
I liked his fight with Brown too. He overcame being put on the canvas to pick up the W. It's unfortunate he was thrown to a hungry Norris(I'm a fan of him and Whitaker too lol).
No. That fight between them ended so wrongly that I still hold a grudge against JCC. Also, his son is so coddled it makes me hate the old man for having him. No logical reasons, just emotional.
The Brown fight was pretty good. Taylor was rocked several times in addition to the KDs. Then his management puts him in there with Norris? Was that a cash-out fight?
The thing that saddens me now is the condition that Taylor is in. The man has lost his ability to speak, and thats something that myself being a huge Chavez fan.... ....well, it just hurts. Though I'm a Chavez fan first and foremost, I have mad respect for Taylor, and it hurts me to see him in the condition he's in today. Fighters like Chavez and Taylor deserve to walk and be introduced in a HOF banquet together and draw the biggest ovation of the night for giving the boxing public the best and most beautiful fight of their generation, but sadly I dont know if Taylor is even healthy enough to travel to such events.
I rooted for Taylor in their fights, but now I actually think I like Chavez's style more. Doesn't have the gift of blinding speed, but his combinations were so fluid and crisp. Sad what happened to Taylor. He should've retired much sooner, Duva wanted him to retire after the Espana fight, but like many fighters, Taylor didn't know when to quit and spent too much money. I'd pick him over all the 140 lb. fighters out there except for Pacquiao. Hell, I'd pick the pre-Norris Taylor at WW to beat Berto.
yup I am. Chavez is obviously the better fighter and I like both but Taylor's blinding speed was something to marvel.
i like both, and quite frankly i dont see how you cant marvel these fighters simultaneously. chavez with his inhuman toughness and damn near unparraleled attacks to the body and taylor with his superhuman handspeed.
