Is anyone disappointed that Fury hasn't taken his career more seriously?

Not really, it's part of what makes him unique and gives him the mystique. If he was just another gym rat, people wouldn't give as much of a ****.

 

I’m not disappointed, it’s a Tyson Fury thing.
But if he hadn't taken a break from his career, boxing history would have taken a different course.
Charles Martin and Parker probably wouldn't be champions.
The whole story falls into the realm of "what if"; it is an alternative reality.
But let's take a look at "what if":
1. There would be a Klitschko-Fury rematch.
Now, the "what if" scenario is divided in two directions.
1. Fury wins and then the big question is whether AJ would be a champion at all.
2. Klitschko wins (everything changes regarding Klitschko; no one disputes him anymore for any reason).
However, I think that all "what would happen if it were" is nonsense.

 

It's almost seven years since he beat Wlad and the second best opponent during that time is probably Wallin. That's a terrible let down to be frank. The fights with Wilder have been great, but he should have had a great lineal run during those years, cleaning house. Or at least trying to. If fights with both Usyk and AJ should happen much would be put right, but the feeling might still be that he should have had those fights when he was younger and fresher.

It probably should have looked something along these lines (if he had stayed undefeated):

2016
Rematch with Wlad. Too bad this didn't happen, because it would be interesting to see if Wlad could have done things better the second time around.

Probably closes out the year with an easier defence. Could be a ranked guy but not necessarily.

2017
Probably AJ. Wilder would probably still stay away, so AJ would be the logical fight in front of a packed Wembley. And then an easier challenger again.

2018-2020
Wilder still stays away, so the likes of Povetkin, Whyte, Ortiz, Parker that he hasn't faced the previous two years.

So, by now Wilder creeps out of his hole if he hasn't lost his belt already.


This would be proper ATG material. The risk now is that it will be somewhat of an "what if".

 

Isn’t a big risk taker but won all of his world titles on foreign soil in his opponents backyards against long reigning world champions ?
