I thought Ryder was ok. Most felt he beat callum Smith, beat Jacobs beat some other undefeated guy. He was a worthy enough Challenger for a title the problem is that Canelo is a pound for pound type of fighter and a star of the sport and we expect better than just a mandatory and a division we expect him to face guys that are Elite for boxing not Elite for the division
Other than Benavidez (who I don’t see as a threat) who has he ducked? GGG was ducked by everyone until Canelo gave him the shot. Can’t think of anyone else, I would actually say he has moved up past his limit to fight better fighters at LHW when he shouldn’t have.
I was done with him when he tried to age out GGG. I used to be fan and still enjoy his style of boxing but can't accept how he does business or the fact he was done for PED's. Cherry picks and outrageous demands to fight anyone decent now just make him even more unlikeable. Bivol seems to have taken his heart, he'd at least try and fight good fights now he's just fighting for the money until he retires. I doubt he fights Benavidez and I was one on here saying he was just marinating the fight, but with this duck of Crawford too by pricing himself out, he clearly is just milking the end of his career now and also ducking DB.
Why would a judges score cause you to be done with a fighter? A fighter has zero to do with how judges score.
How naive are you? Fighters and their promoters who whine and dine judges are the problem. There is no way Canelo won more than two rounds in that fight and one of the two had to be a sympathy round. Canelo is a disgrace. He is a cry baby and has every advantage known to man in a fight and still whines when he loses. Its a farce.
Who isn’t a weight bully in Boxing? Floyd is the only elite fighter that fought at his natural weight in recent memory. Crawford walks around 180, Spence 180 and the list goes on. All boxers are weight bully’s
I didn't agree with the 114-114, it's debatable how many rounds he won but he officially won 3, 4 and 6 rounds. I personally thought he won rounds 2, 3, 4, and 10, with round 6 even and 12 being a toss-up. However it's important to note that each of those possible Canelo rounds were extremely close and could be argued for Floyd as well, whereas several of the rounds that Floyd won (7, 8, 11 for example) were much clearer Floyd rounds than any of those possible Canelo rounds. But on a round by round basis, the fight was far closer than you're making it out to be. I disagreed with the 114-114 for two reasons - first I didn't think Canelo did enough in totality to earn the draw. Second, several of the rounds that CJ Ross gave to each fighter I disagreed with. So I want to make it very clear that Floyd was without a doubt the better man on the night and deserved the victory, but there were about 4-6 rounds that were close enough to give to Canelo if you were really looking to score rounds for him. That said, giving Canelo all of the close rounds and having it a draw would have been wrong, that's my stance on it so you understand. I always try to split close rounds and score matches as accurately as I can. That was a close but clear victory for Mayweather but was a very competitive contest that most people to this day remain in delusion about regarding how many close rounds there were or how subjective the scoring was. But that's OK, we see this sort of thing all the time. Just look at the fight last weekend, we have people thinking it was close and could go either way, we have people thinking Madrimov won, we have people thinking Crawford dominated or pitched a near shutout. There's always going to be fans who score it a certain way and try to mock those who see it differently. But that's not how I roll. I am not afraid to give you my take on a match, even if my scoring is unpopular, it doesn't bother me. Because for every time I score something out of line with the majority, there's just as many times if not more than I'm in the majority. The anti-Canelo bias on here is pretty obvious, and it relates to scoring.
I didn't score the fight. I have eyeballs. 114-114 was a total farce. You don't even need to 'score' that fight with one fighter (Canelo) punching air all night for the most part. How many dubious scorecards has Canelo had go in his favor compared to say Usyk or any other top fighter? Several. That is the issue as it is a pattern. Its criminal and it is a total reprehensible joke.
Canelo is a total weight bully who has been given every benefit of the doubt in every main event fight he has ever been in. He is a diva and a bad one at that. The guy is a total farce and clown.
You can definitely make the argument that Canelo won rounds 2, 3, 4, and 10. And in addition to those, Round 6 and Round 12 were extremely close. Those are the facts. Watch them back and there's no denying it. And by the way, that doesn't mean Canelo deserved a draw. I agree that giving Canelo all the close rounds that he has an argument to winning is favorable and biased scoring, so I agree that 114-114 was farcical. But the fact is that there were a lot of close rounds in that match. So for those who claim that the max amount of rounds that you could give to Canelo is 2 is simply inaccurate. Giving Canelo 3 or 4 rounds (as the other two judges did) is perfectly within the realm of reason. And if you disagree, rewatch rounds 2-4, 6 and 12. Each extremely close and arguable for Canelo.
Done with is the wrong term. Disappointed in his fight choices, absolutely. But if he gets on the Saudi bandwagon it can all change again.
No thanks. Once was enough. The issue here is the very clear pattern of dubious scorecards not just in the Mayweather fight but many after that as well. No other top fighter in the last 10 years has been involved in as many fights (win or lose) with such head scratching close controversial scorecards. That is what I have issue(s) with. Its literally criminal. I don't even pay attention to his fights anymore for that reason alone. Its pointless because no matter what happens sans him getting savagely KOed the scorecards are going to be weird.
Correct entirely. I likee Munguia and Ryder as opponents...just not when theyre chosen in place of legitmate threats. It was GGG all over again except Canelo never actually fought him. Canelo a hard pass for me now, but that's just me
