Is anyone else getting fed up with Pacquiao? (Also Arum!)

I think the main problem is that Pac has made himself look so good against some fighters that the conclusion has been drawn that those fighters were not that good, shot, weight drained etc. Rather than just crediting Manny with good performances.

If we're having to hark back to an opponent from nearly three years ago and a fight fought at four weights below his last outing, for the last time Pac was challenged then I cant see how people can discredit him?

Granted he is yet to 'clean out' a division. But so what? He doesnt need to he's proven to be that good. Mayweather is the only test left.

Out of curiosity though BB, Marquez aside, who else would you line up as an opponent for Pac?

You think? He's facing an assault and battery charge in a state that aggressively pursues all domestic violence cases!

The fact remains he faces legal proceedings that could disrupt the fight. They wouldn't be able to get insurance on the bout.

Your other point's ridiculous: Martinez is the champion at middleweight and LMW by rights. Cotto is a titlist. I understand he brings the money and I don't think that's unfair, but to limit Sergio's earnings smacks of bull**** on Arum's part.

DiBella wouldn't turn down a fair deal.

I'd agree with most of that, but I'm not sure Margarito is a better opponent than Katsidis all things considered..... no good wins in 2 years+, took a hiding from Mosley etc..... but to dig deeper would be splitting hairs.

    :good

    Again, those are valid points.

I'm reluctant to discredit opponents in hindsight, the best win since Marquez is undoubtedly Cotto..... DLH was drained, Hatton was a number of things - still the manner of the wins was impressive.

From the start I wasn't taken in by either Clottey or Margarito - especially Clottey who threw away a fight against Cotto and might as well have not turned up against Pacquiao, he was pathetic.

Agree about not clearing out a division too, it's who you beat rather than belt collecting, but he's done his fair share of that lately :hey - not got an axe to grind though about that. If he wants to pay fees, let him as far as I'm concerned.

The Mayweather fight would be the ideal outcome for everyone, especially the fans, but in the absence of that I can't see too many other viable alternatives.

The winner of Bradley vs Alexander - probably not name enough
Berto - nah, he'd be out inside a round or two

Most of the smaller guys have been beaten by Marquez, most of the bigger guys are either too big (Martinez), not name enough or been beaten by Pacquiao himself. He's not going to fight Khan, Ortiz isn't that good anyway.

They are the last men standing!!

The proper time for a third Marquez fight was at Lightweight after Pac annihilated Diaz and JMM KO'd Casa. But the DLH fight came up and Manny never looked back.

I'd still like to see Pac-JMM III, just so we can have some closure.

What percentage of these cases result in a conviction....less than 10% mate.

He wasn't limiting the earnings. He would get a guarentee and an upside based on PPV buys. Same as the deal Margorito, Clottey and Mosley/Marquez get for Pacquiao fights. If the PPV does 500k buys he will make $4million plus, double what he gets for any other fight invoving a non top rank fighter.

The titlist vs lineal champ is irrelivent. HBO control boxing in the US as they pay the cash.

Wladamir Klitscko lineal Heavyweight champ - Next fight is on ESPN, HBO have not shown his last 3 fights which were for the lineal title agsisnt top fighters.

Jean Pascal - First defence of his lineal title agaisnt a top 10 fighter, HBO turned it down.

Sergio Martinez - HBO won't back a defence agaisnt a top 10 Middleweight with big money.

Juan Manuel Marquez - HBO will pay more for a higher weight fight than Lightweight defence.

Would HBO even dream of showing a Segura of Wongjongkam fight?

Agree with this. Suppose the only real difference we have then is that I dont give JMM much of a chance at this weight and dont see him as being any better or worse than the others you mention.

I'd give Pac immense credit if he took on someone like Martinez at a competitive weight. But I'm not going to scream and shout if he doesnt fancy someone that big. Floyd is the one. Outside of that, I really cant get too excited about any opponent. Which means, for me, that whoever they pick will be fairly acceptable (obviously, within reason).

Maybe DiBella just doesn't think it's a fair distribution of the money?

He offered to buy Arum out of the promotion for $5m, double what was offered the other way.

It seems DiBella is very confident of the promotion being successful and his man winning, to me anyway.

I'd sooner trust the word of a man like DiBella than Arum.......

Pacquiao gets allot of credit for winning titles in multiple wieght classes but the real credit should go to the guys who win belts and defend them agasint all comers.

Henry Artmstrong defended the Welterweight title 15 times, Lightweight title 3 times. Guys like Mayweather and De La Hoya at least made defences in those divisions.

Floyd's welterweight fights against...Baldomir, Judah, Hatton, Marquez and Mosley.

Light welter against Gatti, Corley, Sharmba Mitchell, Brussells...

    Real murderers' row that.

Rob's mindless defence of Mayweather knows no logic or sense.

Didn't Martinez already defend his title and take less money than the challenger? I'm pretty sure he got less than Williams, and had to give up other concessions as a champ.

It's the bad thing about boxing, it's not what you can do, it's what you can sell. If Martinez was American he'd be as big as Pacquaio by now.

He did indeed, but the financial difference wasn't so huge - and he more than made his point. But he shouldn't do it against Cotto.

Hell yeah. I love how Juanma and Gamboa weren't allowed a mile of Caballero as "he wasn't a big name and couldn't sell" but Litzau now is being considered as an opponent for Juanma :patsch.

The only problem though is that Top Rank are by miles the best promoter Stateside and Boxing needs the best Promoters it can get. If I had to pick Top Rank or Golden Boy I would pick Top Rank 100 times out 100. Golden Boy are exactly the same Top Rank but a far worse promoter and are full of ****, at least the Bobotran and the gang don't try and feed holier then thou bs like Golden Boy do.

the difference between Cotto and Williams is Cotto has a history as a ticket seller and PPV seller. after manny and floys he is number 3 in the states.

$2.5mil is double what Martinez would get for any other fight right now.
