Was at the fight and the decision was not popular, but bar the first round I thought the French guy did really well and was catching Jonno with some good shots

I have to say very good judging to give such a decision in the Champs hometown. One judge seemed to have it wayy off though to Mezacche..did he not see the KO?

I thought the decision was right. No way did Thaxton do enough to win. He was more or less a stationary target after the 5th. Took way too many shots and against a better fighter I would worry for his safety. Murray would cause him some serious damage as would any of the world champions. I can't really see him winning many more fights so why continue?

Have to agree, Thaxton won the first two , 3,4 and 5 could be argued but form the 5th on it was all the french guy

Thaxton looked like an old fighter.

What about the remarkably honest and even handed swiss manager , if someone decided to make a polar opposite of Don King it would be that guy !

Spot on. When I first saw him I thought that we've got a bit of a stetson wearing **** here, but he actually spoke the most sense I have heard from a boxing insider for a long time...and called the fight right

Ahh! was that who he was, saw him wandering round the 'arena' (basically a cowshed) and wondered why someone wearing a white scarf and stetson hadn't been jumped by the locals and given a good shoeing

I do feel Jon is a little past his best now and has been for a few fights now but,he was never hurt even slightly, not once.He tripped over the Frenchmans feet a couple of times and was off balance and he did start to tire from the 6th round onwards but thats what happens when you load up on every shot you throw and miss with nearly every one.I hope he gets his Lonsdale belt.I though the scoring was pretty damn bad,it was close but the Frenchman won it in my opinion.

i felt thaxton nicked it by a point.

the judges i felt were brave giving it to the challenger but over compensated for thge challengter

a draw would have been fair and teh right desicion IMO

that KD ruined Thaxton as he tried for the KO in the 2nd and 3rd and felt he could land a KO punch throughout the fight

definitely a bit gutted for him.

on the flipside it ends this world title shot talk and brings closer a john murray fight.

so from that point of view it could be a blessing. :yep

3 & 4 point victory's for the Frenchman were off the mark, hopfully Jono can get a rematch in France.

If not Jono can make his come back on the domestic scene, he has plenty of fans who want to see him continue to box.
