Is anyone else impressed with Kovalev's boxing skills?

Yea man that jab to the body, quick snappy jab, and roughing up Bhops, beating him at his own game. Now I know why Bhops always admitted the only fighter he'd lose to at his best was Monzon. Rangy, but great toe to toe too. Can't really call Kov one dimensional, he boxed beautifully behind the jab.

He easily outboxed Hopkins. Early in the fight Kovalev landed the short right with great effectiveness. It seemed to keep Hopkins on his heels a bit.

I was very impressed with his performance. He may have some trouble finding fights now.

I have already written on this forum the Kovalev has skills. He has a high KO % because he has great timing and really understands where distance and leverage pay off. That is skill. Kovalev fought to the level of my expectation.

 

matter of degrees. against chad, i always felt b-hop had a chance, against kovalev, he was literally outclassed.

 

Hopkins looked like he didn't even care. He threw less than 200 punches in the whole fight and didn't even try to dodge punches like he normally does.

 

i wouldnt doubt that it could have been a different hopkins, after all, he was bound to lose that split second that seperates the creme from the chaff, eventually. but even with the loss of of that split second, he should have been competative with any other contender, and he just wasnt tonight.

 

Kovalev would have beat hopkins at any time in any year because he is a better boxer and faster. The strength and power is just how much brain damage bhop gets at any one time.

 

Hell yeah.
His right hand was ****ing beautiful. If anyone is going to beat Kovalev, they will have to through hell first.

 

Thats just stupid. Hopkins at 31 was a completely different fighter.
At 31 Hopkins was knocking fools out. He actually had a string of TKOs that include Kovalevs current trainer Jackson and Glen Johnson.

Different eras, different fighters.
