This one's more for the Canadians or people who follow canadian boxing. But does it bug anyone else how much the media focuses on this sentimental lost dream of steve and his brother jeremy? For those of you not in the know, everytime steve molitor (the up and coming IBF junior featherwieght champ) appears in public he wants to talk about how he's fighting for his brother because it was there dream to be world champions together and how him going to jail took that away from them and how the limiting of his brother's life drives him to make the most of his.

Again, for those of you not in the know Jeremy molitor - his brother and former commonwealth champ - went to jail for stabing his ex-girl friend to death.

Now I don't know about the rest of you but I don't want some dude who stabbed a 21 year old girl 58 times to be painted in a simpethetic light.

I'm not offended by steve supporting his brother (after all they are brother's) but I just don't want to hear about the guy. And I certainly don't want to be made to feel sorry for either of these guys over some lost dream he/they had.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

P.S. I didn't see the fight tonight cause the broadband wasn't working for some reason. So I'm not sure how much they focused on it. But in the past I have been pissed at the way sports commentators have wanted to covered that angle.

Yeah, it's upsetting...because other than that, he's a great ambassador for boxing and Canada. His management should tell him to reel it in a bit because he is what the sport needs in Canada to bring it back to prominence.

Regardless, great fight and a great event for Molitor and boxing in Canada!

I don't know. It might even be his management that tries to make it a talking piece. Its tough to tell with steve because he's so well spoken and well mannered that you never know whether or not he's been coached and its just another talking piece or whether he's working it in on his own.

Personally, I'd just like to see the media guys try to stay away from it as opposed to go write for it. I mean they always try to gloss it over and hardly ever mention what he did. So if you didn't know you would just think he was a guy who made some wrong choices. Instead of the worthless waist of skin he is.

By the way did you see the fight tonight? Cause I'd be interested to know how the TV guys covered it this time or whether or not he talked about it at all.

I watched the fight and it was a fantastic fight. They made passing reference to his brother because of the t-shirt he wore...but didn't describe what he is in jail for.
Steve made a comment about him not being there in the 'free world' with him.
I think TSN made a conscious effort not to play that angle up because they didn't expand on it.
If you want to make your point known to his camp, post this on fightnews.ca. Molitor and his crew post on there and read the forums regularly.

As for the fight...Molitor looked damned good against a very solid, though not spectacular opponent, and the right hook that, for all intents and purposes, finished the contest was absolute quality.
