I was always a fan of Canelo. But I was also a fan of GGG and IMO, he got jobbed by Canelo. Several times. First he waited for GGG to wane...and then he wanted the MW belt(s) contested at 155. When the fight finally did happen, Canelo lost, but got a 'draw" on the scorecards. The rematch might have been a bit closer, but he still lost. This time he was accorded the W. And then, despite most observers agreeing that he lost both fights, he declined the trilogy. That said, I suppose it was business to some degree. GGG did not have the career-time left, nor the connections, and thesis kinds of things have happened before. I like Plant too, so I'm in the position of just enjoying the fight on Saturday with no dog in the fight. Or two dogs, would be another way to look at it. I just hope the judges get it right (if they are needed), and may the best man win !
I'm a fan of both but I wouldn't mind seeing plant beat canelo. I'll probably root for him in this fight, he's a big underdog.
I honestly have no dog in this fight as I think both are legit pieces of garbage, but Canelo at least actually loves his daughter, and went after the belt-holders unlike a certain someone who waited for the Ginger Sweepstakes to arrive to him. No matter the result though, I win. But yeah Plant getting merked by the mid rounds.
Canelo is a roiding, clen eater, but he has grown on me for the last couple of fights. Hes passion for boxing is first rate and so are his skills. Plant on the other hand strikes me as a very unlikable character, hiding behind his manager, Al Haymon. Just waiting for a big pay day. Let the best man win i say. Plant is going to get ktfo though.
I'm rooting for Plant to put on a great performance and make it an exciting fight. Don't want to see a one-sided fight but i'm rooting for Canelo to win.
Canelo has grown on me in recent years. Since the GGG robberies. He is an excellent puncher and has become much better defensively and in other ways, mainly his punches and movements are better. I like Plant. He's from a boxing garage and still trains in a garage... He is the modern rocky... He is basically self taught and has become a champion.... He is very admirable. That being said, Canelo is bout to steamroll this fool mid rounds... Maybe earlier. Levels. I think Plant will win rounds and be competitive as long as 6 rounds maybe, and then that pressure will show. The dedicated body attack, the constant forward pressure.... You have to be so strong and box so hard to keep that pressure at bay and I don't believe Plant has the steam to keep it up. That being said, I like the betting odds and I'll be dropping $25-$35 on Plant for fun. I sure would like to see the fallout from an upset!
If Plant wins it will be a disaster as far as getting high level fights made. The guy is probably licking his chops thinking about what he'll get paid to fight faded brawlers and regional talent if he wins. He's a charismatic white American with skills and work ethic who was promising from the start. If he had ambition he would be the face of boxing right now. Canelo wants the belt and undefeated record he was milking, otherwise this fight would have never happened.
