Ill enjoy the fight but both have wasted the last four years doing a whole lot of nothing so hard to really care for either fighter.
I'm pretty pumped for this fight and going to watch All Access ep. 2 now. Man I'm not sure who to choose! Initially, I was thinking Tank for size but LSC has a decent chance after seeing his training. Good fight hopefully...
This is basically Spence vs Garcia 2.0. Both Davis and Santa Cruz have BS titles. Davis won his over a shot Gamboa who hasn't done anything noble in lightweight since getting smacked around by Bud, while Santa Cruz won his belt by beating Miguel Flores who also didn't do jack **** (let's not mention how Rene Alvarado is the true champion). And the fact that both their titles are on the line is ridiculous.
Mr. Gary Russell Jr. is exhibit A. Leo also ducked Rigondeaux. Plus his refusal to grant Frampton a 3rd fight is unforgivable for two reasons. First, Frampton gave him a rematch. Second, Frampton conceded home advantage for both fights. Understand it’s not completely Leo’s fault. However, if Leo can’t stand up to Invisible Al and dictate the terms of his own career, he’s not as marketable as his team thinks he is. That being true, he definitely should not be headlining a PPV against Tank Davis, who also lacks the marketability to call the shots with his promoter. Bottom line is outside of Canelo, Pacquiao, the Heavyweights, and maybe now Teofimo Lopez, none of these Other fighters is PPV worthy as the headliner.
I used to like Gervonta until he started showing up on the scales too heavy and was forced to relinquish his title before the fight even began. That screams unprofessional and undisciplined to me. I was underwhelmed by his performance in his last fight against a well past his prime Gamboa who clearly suffered a bad injury in that fight and remained tough into the championship rounds. i used to like Santaz cruz when he was having those matches with Frampton who at the time I rated highly. Frampton fought him twice in the states and LSC never granted him a 3rd fight which he should have. It would've been even nicer if they fought their trilogy in Belfast. Both of these guys have taken the path of least resistance over the past few years. LSC is definitely stepping up his level by taking on Gervonta who is the naturally larger man. Gervonta is supposed to win this fight based off his size and power, I'd like to see him in there with someone that can actually challenge him. Davis had plenty of chances to take on lomachenko which would've elevated him to a new stratosphere. Now he sees someone younger than him in Lopez getting all the credit and glory, and rightfully so.
If Tank can counter effectively he can stop the high output of LS. If he can't LS can have a great deal of success.
Its an absolute mismatch so wouldn't be interested in paying for it. LSC will be on his bike running the whole night after he feels the power. Both have good stories for sure,
Don't think highly of either of these guys. This being on PPV is a joke. Leo doesn't have any power, real feather fisted. He won't "wear down" Twink with his pillow punches.
