This is weird. They are both swimming in suitable opponents and instead they choose to fight guys from different weight classes. This is only interesting if Leo Santa Cruz wins since it will be his fifth weight class and he's moving up. I generally don't consider victories over guys moving up as particularly good; so if Tank knocks the smaller man out, or bullies him to a lopsided decision, that's to be expected. Luckily, Leo has height and reach advantages. He's as big as a natural lightweight. It's just a matter of whether he has the power and whiskers to compete there. Am I reading this right? Is Leo really 16-1 in title fights? The only notable names on the ledger are Frampton and Mares though. Where does the time go? He's already 32.
Praying it turns out like this. LSC, in hiz early days, just looked like he loved fighting. He looked great in the All Access too, better than I expected. Never seen a bout more brutally upstaged than this one though. After Loma-Lopez this fight can show who the true #3 guy at 135 is! Then Gassiev, Usyk, and Inoue same day all in the middle of college football. And not to mention they themselves had a double card for the same price, main events slightly worse but with both undercards better in my mind.
Not overly. It’s not a terrible fight, it’s just very ‘meh’. I don’t think LSC is a big player at this weight. I haven’t been impressed with either of them for a while frankly. Tank should win comfortably enough. LSC’s volume could make it interesting given how inactive Tank was against Gamboa at times. I cannot believe how much this card costs in the States. It’s absolutely absurd. The quality of this card to the Charlo double header is night and day.
He's irrelevant to me because hes not someone I think has a good chance to win here, isnt a current factor in Davis's division, and isnt someone Im interested in seeing fight. That being said, youre right in that Davis does look like hes regressing, and LSC is exactly the kind of guy that will capitalize on a lazy frontrunner who didnt train properly, is drained, and is underperforming. I suppose in that sense, it makes me a little more excited for the fight.
