Thats a bit harsh. He tried his best and when in trouble showed the brains and composure to take a knee when needed. And kept getting up in time to go back into the fire. Thats heart. It was a corner stoppage. He was in way over his head and kept trying. Looks like heart and pride to me.

Sorry, mate, but I disagree. He went down as soon as possible time after time, to save his skin. At best, he was banking on that one punch, unrealistically...I think he was trying to stay in the fight a couple of rounds, just to clock some minutes, but that's all...

...no...if you want to see a bit of heart and pride, look at Gomez v. Cotto, for example, or look at Cintron v. Margarito...both were outclassed but they showed heart and pride. Lockett didn't. :verysad

People should have realized that Lokcett had no shot when prior to the fight he was planning on retirement ..And after watching this train wreck I come to the conclusion that Calzaghe beats Kelly by UD .Nothing easy but Joe will have no problems out boxing him ..None !

That was Taylor's thought in fight one. While he was winning the boxing match Kelly was winning the fight. Taylor was scoring points with the judges, Pavlik was scoring DAMAGE on Taylor.

Everyone's got a plan until they get hit in the face. That was about how the fight went- Lockett let his hands go until Kelly landed solidly after which he promptly went into a shell. Then, it was a massacre.

That was intelligience not lack of heart, as Pavlik pointed out after the fight. If that had gone on much longer Lockett would have been badly hurt, it wasn't lack of heart he was just out of his depth.

no, pavlik was bigger faster his reach was longer, and he had more technique and boxing smarts than lockett thats why he dismantled him the same way cotto does to his opponents

Nah, not shocked at all. Lockett was in there to make Kelly look good and that's exactly what happened.

One thing I'll say is that Pavlik looked a little better to me last night than he ever has. I wasn't impressed by his defense like Manny Steward was slobbering all over, what I thought is that his handspeed looked a little quicker than before and he varied his offense better than he has in recent bouts. Very good overall night by Kelly I thought.

That maybe, but if Hopkins can floor him in the 1st, Pavlik has more power and a far higher punch output, if the fight is in USA I see Pavlik winning on points. His come forward relentless style will present more of a problem than Kessler did for sure. Pavlik will not need to worry about Calzaghes power as he does not throw power punches as much due to hand problems and Kelly's head is too hard anyway. I do not see it as impossible for Calzaghe to win but it is a 50/50 fight for me and I would slightly favour Pavlik at this point.

It was get to the mando out of the way and to build a tad hype surrounding the Calzaghe fight with Enzo in Locketts corner.

At least he got some rounds in.
