Is anything under 6’4 too short to become a heavyweight champion these days?

Yeah we've all seen that fight a million times so what?

You can't possibly think this has any bearing on Joshua vs Usyk.

Joyce was an amateur back then, and Joshua had more success as an amateur.

Joshua now is 20+ fights as a pro

Way Way Way faster than Joyce.

    Way more skilled than Joyce...

Cool, well Joshua ain't Gassiev, and whether Usyk tries to be unhittable or not, Joshua will land... because Joshua has real tangible ring experience against seasoned veterans, and he knows ful well how to land a shot on anyone. When it happens, I'll be proven right.
First time for everything, if Whyte can drop Parker, better believe Joshua can drop Usyk.
LOL erm, okay? Unfortunately it is not the fanboys who score professional bouts, it is official judges that have been involved in quite a few (real) fights and not behind a computer screen on a boxing forum. And the judges had it a blow out.
If you want to call the judges biased... dodgy... wrong go right ahead. I agree with their scorecards on this instance.
You should take your own advise pal, because you are wrong more often than not, whereas I've built a track record of being pretty right with my predictions.... and my prediction on Usyk vs Joshua will be no different.
But I'll be laughing my arse off if he doesn't get past Takam as easily as you all make it.... how will you ever show face after that CST80???

So, ummmm ... it is relevant to the thread?

It has, however, a bearing on this: "That puny Usyk will be a perfect example, of what happens when a smaller fighter steps up to fight these huge behemoths. That 215lb fleabag, would be beaten to a bloody pulp when he fights a real heavyweight."

*shrug* I really don't care about your opinions.

Fact is, Usyk has beaten and will be able to beat "real" heavyweights. Whether he beats AJ is another matter that can only be discovered by them actually fighting.

No that was my point, it is completely and utterly irrelevant to the thread, because the current champ is AJ, not amateur Joyce from 2012.

I don't agree with the quote, Usyk can beat many heavies... just not AJ.

I don't know what you mean by "real" heavyweight, as in someone who competes at heavyweight>? Yeah sure, Usyk can beat some of those. Beat the top ten? Remains to be seen.... all conjecture and hot air.

Beat AJ? "Stormzy tell man shut up"... never gonna happen.

Just let your hero get past Takam first before we get ahead of ourselves.

Usyk will fight Joshua at some point, and you are going to be so VERY wrong. I look forward to that moment. I will order a big pizza on that day.

    And this guy: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/314362
    and this guy: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/468841

As per the thread starter "With Andy Ruiz getting a shot at AJ I see a lot of people saying that he’s simply too short being 6’2 to win, so are guys under 6’4 doomed in today’s Heavyweight division? "
I have answered that question. No, guys under 6'4 are not doomed. Case closed.

Wow, you sound kind of invested in Joshua. Maybe you need to get out more.

Yeah Usyk can be WBA regular champ, I already admitted... it stops there.

Ain't beating Joshua... and ain't gonna make it to the WBC belt.

    So case is closed.

I don't use flukes or ATG as measuring sticks the last dominant era champion of what the thread is getting at was M. Tyson. Holyfield struggled with old Holmes for that very reason which was struggling to get past that range and Holmes is just under 6'4..

Unless you can show me a M.Tyson NOW then we can continue the conversation., If not it's pretty self explanatory why being short is not an advantage even if it works for some even most in some cases fighting guys by out maneuvering them.

if you look at the history of every era it has been the taller guys in that era who were harder to get a win against, minus brief moments in history with Frazier, M.Tyson and Marciano.

Oh, you want to talk about the ordinary average heavyweight champions of the world. My mistake.

Tall fighters have glass chins for the most part. Look at Joshua and Wilder both. They both have glass chins as we have seen in the past.

Your another guy who lives in delusion on here , why not use who's actually fighting and not made up b.S all the time ?

The current dominant champion is 6'6.

Have you been watching an old 70's horror movie called Phantasm ? It's about people being killed by a alien posing as a mortician that takes dead bodies and ressurects them into demonic dwarfs by crushing their bodies down into 3 feet tall minions that go around terrorizing.

It worked for awhile but by part 2 not as much ! o_O
