Is anything under 6’4 too short to become a heavyweight champion these days?

New Thread: Will very tall robotic stiff muscle-bound athletes with decent at best boxing skills ever become undisputed heavyweight champions again?

Lol this is funny since I stated this already. Since the 1970' there has been tons of 6'4 plus inch heavyweights. Nobody cared. Nobody called them super heavyweights. All of the sudden because you casuals hear somebody on TV use the term you think it is a legit boxing term. Wladimir Klitschko lost to 3 guys sub 6'4. Anthony Joshua just got smoked by a 6'0 morbidly Mexican janitor. You know why? Because there is a heavyweight weight class. There is no such thing as a heavyweight height class.

its probably because we have oversized athletes that weaker fighters like ruiz and retired sanders can capitalise. Oversized means it hard for them to keeptheir heads together, poorer blood supply to heart during shocks.

They are called super heavyweights due to their weight, not height. Ali rarely fought anyone above 210lbs.
In fact Ali was often the heavier man in the ring.

or the standard has sunk so low that the majority of fighters these days dont bother to condition themselves?

its supposed to be a cardiosport, man.

Ali fought well over 25 opponents over that weight and above, once again this just highlights how flexible and adaptable Ali was, he fought all weights and sizes from speedy 200 pounders to 256 pounders and everything in between, including being outweighed on a number of occasions and a few by 20-30lbs and still came through, he beat fighters taller ,smaller older younger , longer reach shorter reach. punchers non punchers, pressure fighters , outside, inside fighters, in pressure cooker arenas, has a favourite has an underdog, in his country outside his country and that’s why most people believe he is one of,if not the greatest heavyweight ever.

He fought only a handful of guys who were 220 or over. 7 guys in fact. Most were around 210lbs.

In fact in his last 11 fights, Ali was the heavier man.

I’m sorry I thought you said he rarely fought anybody over 210lbs not 220lbs and of course it doesn’t get away from my original post that he is proved and tested against fighters over those weights when you make your mind up which you mean. Lol

becos carrying excess weight is a drain in cardio, esp when fights can be as long as 15 rounds.

    u must know this.
