He has a puncher's chance. But, he will have huge problems getting inside to KO Wlad. Wlad will work that jab all night long.
Considering the targets he has been aiming at, it is not hard to be accurate. Taking aim at Klitschko will add an element of difficulty that Arreola has yet to deal with. What is it about Arreola that makes some people believe that he will rise to the occasion?
Regardless of the opponent, it's impressive that a guy who doesn't always look to be in the best physical condition can be as accurate as he is. I am not one of those who are picking Arreola to beat Wladimir Klitschko by the way.
He is very heavy handed, he has clubbing power, he puts all his weight into his shots, there is a lot momentum behind them. Different from Wlad, who fires right through you, much more explosive. He turned the Walker fight around with one overhand right, so yes I would definitely say he has 1 punch KO power. He is very crude though, the power comes from the arc, throwing his weight into the shots. He gets off balance easily when he misses. Still, he is very accurate, surprisingly so. He does show his boxing knowledge, not in his technique but his focus and attack during the fight. He places all his shots and never throws wild. His technique is crude, but he lands accurate. Too many defensive holes. And he has slow hands, which I think is why he is all bullying pressure. Im not sure how effective he would be trying to box. He moves very heavy in general, not light on his feet, although it could be the weight.
He's the classic Mexican pressure fighter but as a HW. I'm sure he'd be a harder puncher if he was in shape, but no doubt he is heavy handed and a hurtful hitter. I reckon he has enough power to stop Wlad....whether he can get past the jab and survive the right hand is another question (I suspect not but I'd like to see him win, at least he's exciting)
I really don't think this fight will be very competitive. I do think Arreola has the power and accuracy to hurt Wlad, but his downfall in this fight will be his severe lack of boxing technique and his sub-par hand speed. I see Wlad jabbing him silly for about 4 or 5 rounds to sufficiently soften him up for a brutal stoppage. I wouldn't be surprised if it was over even sooner to be honest. It just depends on how much respect Wlad shows him imo.
Sure seems like a big puncher. Very heavy handed guy. Probably doesn't hit quite as hard as Wladdy, but still a banger nonetheless.
