Is "Arreola, Povetkin, Gomez & Solis" really our best new kids?

I'm sorry... But I just can't accept the fact that guys like Chris Arreola, Alex Povetkin, Juan C. Gomez and Odlanier Solis are the new kids on the block who'll save the heavyweight division from stinking any worse than it already does...:-(

Well, if the internet and ESB had been around during the 60s people would be bitching about the likes of Foreman, Frazier and especially Ali when they were on the way up, so.....

And wtf is with this bull**** about the division "needing saving".

No matter how bad it seems to smell, the heavyweights are in fact survivors. Heavyweights command respect and attention, but every so often, something goes stale there.... Aside from a fresh does of added "K" brother to the scene, I think the division is in a bit of a rut these days... I can't see "Arreola, Povetkin, Gomez or Solis" being very marketable and generating huge ticket sales in the future..... No "Super" fights there... Peace...

Plus, some folks still swear to Christ that David Tua will comeback AGAIN and save the day / night..... Now, that's truly dreaming long and hard...

Haye has NOT proven to be a heavyweight just yet.... He does TALK a good game, but he needs to fight a "LIVE" body sooner or later...:thumbsup

I also do NOT have much faith in either "Chambers or Jason Estrada." That stuff there belongs to ESPN in my view..:smoke

I had tried damn hard to like and follow Lance "Mount" Whitaker. But after that dreadful loss to Estrada on ESPN a few months ago, I now realize that Whitaker needs to drive a bus or something... The fight game is NOT his racket...

I agree MRBILL, there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel concerning the dismal state of the Heavyweights . The fact that Sam Peter, Shannon Briggs, and all those mediocre Russians have been belt holders speaks volumes for the lack of talent that infests the over 200 guys. The last really hot era for the Heavys was the 70's, and the so called contenders of today would hardly be qualified as sparring partners for Ali, Frazier and Foreman.
The Klitchkos at least come in condition, but the rest are flabby, slow powerless, and don't even try that hard to win. How else could an obese middleweight like Toney have the modest success he enjoyed against guys like Ruiz? I'd like to see fat James try that against a 70's version of Foreman or Frazier. He'd of gotten slaughtered like the fattened swine he resembles.

Good point about the "K" brothers at least being in-shape and ready to fight...... I'm seeing new European / Russian fighters coming onto the scene looking like the Pillsbury Doughboys'.....:happy
