Maybe a glass jawed fraud but his win over lewis was far far far far better then any gatti wins in which u cant disagree. And rahman like gatti is a former 2 time champ.
Not even close,he lacks the resume and also lacks the moral character,he was a wife beating piece of trash.
no, never beat anyone - Wouldn't make it into top 6 of 140 now, Was ATG as entertainment, but guys like Ward's are journeymen. Fan of Gatti, but is Overrated by a lot - don't blame them, but still you have to keep it realistic
HOF is a joke now so of course he will get in, he did have a lot of fame in boxing but his resume is weak. Although you should have added his win over ruelas instead of gamache who was a 128lb fighter fighting at 140. Tracy harris patterson was also a smaller fighter moving up to 140
What is exactly historic about two espn level fighters beating each others brains in,Corrales Castillo was better and Corrales isnt a hof fighter.
Heck people use the term Gatti'd to refer to someone getting destroyed and outclassed the way he was in the floyd fight, a HOF would have given Floyd trouble atleast
The man knows little about boxing...^ As regards your 'dominated by the two genuinely great fighters he faced' line, So was Ricky Hatton, P4P greatest, but that's a mythical thing. Gatti would get up from stupid amounts of adversity. You would have to hit that c**t with a spade to get him out of there. Gatti was dominated by the two genuinely great fighters he faced (Mayweather aDe La Hoya), and he has prime losses to Manfredy, Robinson and Ward. His biggest wins over Patterson and Ruelas are quality, but it isn't a HOF resume by any stretch. Go back to watching baseball....
That's why i think he should be eligible. He was arguably the most consistently exciting fighter that has ever lived, and I've seen less deserving fighters make it.
Gatti was so popular that it was his fame that drove Floyd's first PPV. Even casual fans cleared their schedules for Gatti fights. When it comes to fame, Gatti has tons of it. Truly the people's champ of his era. That said, his resume is awfully thin for a HOF fighter. While his fights and legacy will live on forever through reruns on ESPN Classic, HBO, etc, I don't think he makes it to the HOF.
I'm just not sure if he has enough elite wins to be considered HOF worthy, yes he has classic battles, but so do plenty of non-Hof boxers.. Hate to say it but him being dead, will work in his favor to be inducted, you know how posthumous consideration works..
Why are people comparing the contributions of "Non-Participants" and "Observers" like Buffer and Stallone to that of fighters?
Well lots of great fighters were woman-beaters, I don't factor that into the HOF. I do see the viewpoint that it's hall of "Fame" and not "Great", but my personal opinion is that there should be a high standards for putting fighters in the IBHOF, and I don't think he has the achievements and resume to get in. I also don't like bringing up other examples of undeserving fighters. Just because others got in with thin resumes, it doesn't mean I think another fighter should. Whatever, he'll probably get in regardless.
