Would really like to see Austin Trout win this one. But it's really throwing him in the deep end with Cotto. He's never fought anyone anywhere near as good.
Beat up Canelo's brother and apparently has Canelo afraid to fight him, having him go pick on ****ing Jr. Welters. **** surprised Canelo didn't demand the Guerreo fight.
This is a really tough one. Trout is long and likes to move in and score while denying a guy like Cotto any real chance to land and he'll win multiple rounds this way. He's got some of the same qualities that Floyd used well against Cotto. Obviously, he's not Floyd though. Among other things, he doesn't have an uppercut that can hurt Cotto. He is slick and tough to hit most of the time, but not all of the time. He had missteps against Rodriguez, so he certainly will against the stalking of Cotto and when he does, Cotto will land the cleaner, more effective shots and win rounds that way. Could easily get a knockdown, though a KO would be a surprise. It seems like a let down spot for Cotto. He got his revenge on Margarito and found his ceiling when he was outclassed by Floyd, so maybe it's time to relax. But his comments don't seem to indicate that. He seems to have an objective outlook on the Floyd fight, feeling he did as well as he could. Now he wants to further demonstrate his own class in the final chapters of his career. I expect him to be as determined as ever. I think the bookies have it just about right. So I expect Cotto to get it with home field and experience on his side, but it should be competitive. Might toss something on a draw, since, in the event that Trout is able to outscore Cotto, it would hardly be shocking for Cotto to be given a draw in MSG. Will probably bet over on rounds.
He will not get the descision because he will NOT earn it. Plain and simple. Stop laying out excuses. :-(
The only person who's ACTUALLY ducked Trout is Anthony Mundine. There's no indication Canelo is scared of Trout, although I do think it would be a much worse matchup for him (stylistically) than would be Cotto.
