There’s a lot of discussion about the lack of truly great opposition able to fight each other in boxing today. But Bam vs Inoue might be a possibility, and Bam might be teetering on being a hall of famer. Bam’s won unified titles in 2 divisions, 2 at 112 and 3 at 115. Beating Teraji would give him a win over a likely HoFer and make him undisputed at 115 (assuming the Willbaldo/Teraji fight is remade and Teraji gets the title). Bam’s resume to date: -Fernando Martinez. Martinez beat long reigning 8 defense champion (but fairly weak resume) Ancajas to win the IBF 115 title by decision , then defending it against him in a slightly more lopsided decision. He made his second defense of the IBF title by knocking out 18-0 Jade Bornea in the 11th, though I can’t find evidence Bornea had a Ring ranking. He then won a decision vs Kazuto Ioka, a 4 division champion who was on many people’s pound for pound list until this fight. He older, but some say he had never been beat (with his 2 prior losses being controversial, and especially the one vs Nietes, also a 4 division champion, being widely considered an Ioka victory) to unify his own IBF title with Ioka’s WBA. He dropped the IBF to rematch Ioka, and then beat Ioka in a slightly closer decision victory to make his first defense of the WBA title. He then lost every round vs Bam Rodriguez on his way to being knocked out in the 10th in a KO of the Year contender. I’m a little busy, so I’ll finish his resume in the replies.
I love Bam but it's a little too soon to christen him a Hall of Famer. He is certainly on a Hall of Fame path but we need to see how his career plays out.
It means he's feasting on another blown up smaller fighter, in the autumn of his career, after he got dominated by the thoroughly average Sandoval. So... par for the course for Sham Rodriguez.
