Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez is coming off of his recent stoppage win over defensive wizard and best Brit in the game, Sunny Edwards, in June, he is slated to fight the P4P Mexican talent, Juan Francisco Estrada, and also holds wins over Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Israel Gonzalez, and Carlos Cuadras. So, is he the best U.S. talent in the sport right now? He's more active than Bud and, if he beats Estrada, will have two wins over P4P ranked fighters, compared to Bud's one over Errol Spence. Tank's best win is over Jose Pedraza 7 years ago and is yet to fight anyone since in their prime or who isn't weight drained. Haney was exposed by Ryan Garcia for having no power, no skills, and a glass chin, as well as going life and death with two former featherweights when he comes into the ring as a super-middleweight. Shakur is good but also put on one of the least watchable fights of all time against De Los Santos. Teofimo Lopez is crazy, can't fight on the front foot, and runs hot and cold. Is Bam the best U.S. fighter right now?
You don't think Bud's inactivity and shallow resume knock him down a peg? I'd say Edwards, Runvisai, and Cuadras are a better trio of top wins than Errol, Porter, and Postol. The problem with Bud's win over Errol is that Bomac himself said that Errol is one dimensional fighter. Bud derailed the hype train and popped the bubble that Errol is actually an elite fighter, but the issue is that because he did that, people now realise Errol was a hype job who went life and death in nearly all his big fights. The Porter win is good but also Porter always just fell short of the top level every time he stepped up. Postol is okay and is the highlight of Bud's 140 run but apart from Mathysse, Postol's resume is thin and it hasn't aged all too well since Postol has become a gatekeeper since. Apart from that, what does Bud have? A puffed up Gamboa? Ricky Burns? Beltran? I love Bud and I think H2H he beats anybody, but his resume lacks top-level talents. Rungvisai is a more accomplished fighter than Spence imo and Sunny was in the middle of his prime when Bam fought him, whereas Porter wasn't when Bud did. If Bam beats Estrada and looks good then I think there's a solid case that he would have a better list of scalps than Crawford.
i think so. he has been facing some high level opposition and theyve looked about as dangerous against bam as the mediocre opponents looked. out of their league against him. i cant think of one fight where he looked in danger of losing. i think once he takes care of cuadras, then choco, if he can lure him into the ring, he will start to be viewed as the fighter i see now.
