Is beating Juan Diaz reason enough for a boxer to be crowned P4P #1?

Some boxer Koed Diaz lately. Is that an accomplishment worthy of P4P#1 title?

Its not just becoming the first to knockout two terrific lightweights......its his whole body of work.....

Official decisions dont mean a damn nowdays, and probably never have.....
....its up to the individual fan really, those who had JMM beating Pacquiao, likely have JMM at #1 P4P, and righfully so if thats how they viewed those fights.

No, but beating the #2 lightweight in the division is no small feat especially against someone as aggressive as Juan Diaz and he did it at the age 35 AND he knocked him out. you also have to consider he beat Casamayor for the lineal title, he also knocked him out. As for Nate, he is too inconsistent to be mentioned top p4p. But if manny dominates Hatton, he is back at number one for me

Exactly. These type of threads are always started by knee-jerk reaction noobs.... :-(

Obviously his work previous got him up to top5...Does this win on its own push him further though, all the way to no1?

Not IMO...but if you think Marquez beat Pac then the arguement is there.

First off, P4P is nothing but bull****. Hold no real meaning, and everyone has a different criteria it seems.

Whoever, aside from Campbell, JMM has just KO'd two of the top LW's in the World. That's something.

I agree..they are mostly bull****. I must admit though they at least get some discussion going with emphasis on different criteria seeing some bizarre list get made up sometimes.

But what I mean is that even though his earlier work got him to within range of p4p 1...does this win push him there?
I think this is what this thread is about...not just this single win getting him the no1 status but along with the other wins.

If Pac had just a normal defense rather then demolishing DLH in his last fight, then I could see JMM moving to #1. But Pac had a pretty HUGE win of his own. So, no. It shouldn't.

And that means all the decisions wins by MARQUEZ doesn't count too, right? So that leaves how many KO wins does MARQUEZ have and PACMAN have? That's equal to 36 for both of them. How many loss does MARQUEZ have? 4 against PACMAN's 3. When they fought, how many times MARQUEZ fell down? 4 TIMES against 0 for PACMAN! Obviously, only MORONS will say MARQUEZ is ahead of PACMAN! :hat
