"Boxing now is all about being undefeated, undefeated, undefeated and I think that might have a lot to do with the network just wanting to promote undefeated fighters. But what happens is the best fights don't happen because a guy don't want to take any chance of losing his undefeated record, so his biggest challenge, he don't take on that challenge because he's afraid his 0 will go. It does not create the best fights".

"When I see a guy like Pacquiao, who's willing to fight anybody, came up like 4 or 5 weight classes, just taking on the best fighters in each division, come on, how can you not be a fan of that guy. It's impossible," he continued. Given his belief that the focus on fighters with unblemished records is hurting the sport, it's also no surprise that Johnson does not share the same opinion of Floyd Mayweather Jr. "Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter, you know? Am I a huge fan of Floyd? No, I'm not. I think there's plenty of good fights that's out there that he's not taking part in. And for what? I don't understand why he's not...that's what we're missing in boxing. Boxing has a lot of draws, but it doesn't have a lot of great fights. And that's my problem with the matchups".

Ye Glen is a true warrior, I respect that man. This is a guy who fights any one and anywhere. Going into guy's backyards to fight them and in my opinion he has been at the wrong end of a decision on more than one occasion.

Undefeated all depends who it is, but nowadays the game is all about money and all the promotional garbage that goes along with that, nothing better to promote than that 0, and air of Invincibility.

I love you Glen but given your level of talent you lost to sum real bums and shamed yourself at times. It is not how many you lost but who you lost to. Good luck against Dawson!

Being undefeated is overrated, and Glen is one of the true warriors of the last ten years. But let's be honest, he's only still around because he is extremely tough and an extremely hard worker. Lots of young fighters don't recover from the kind of pounding he took off of Hopkins. There's still something to be said for wise career management and matchmaking.

    It's a balance.

Being undefeated means a hell of a lot, so long as you're facing competition that matters. In my view, you can't really point to Floyd Mayweather Jr or Joe Calzaghe and say "Yu're only undefeated cause you never fought anyone" when both of them have HOF and ATG fighters in their cards, as well as instances where they were even money/under dogs.

In Glen Johnson's case, losing to people like Clinton Woods indicates he was never really an elite fighter and has his fame solely for beating Jones Jr on a bad day.

Again, why undefeated fighters at the championship level like Calzaghe and Floyd should be respected, they don't have "on a bad day" like Toney, Hopkins, Jones Jr, Manny Pac, etcetera.

How did the Calzaghe entered this thread. Name me one ATG fighter in his prime that Calzaghe defeated?

Wait the word Kessler popped in to your mind. Think about it some more. Remember I said ATG. Based on his resume I can only honestly say that Kessler is world class SMW and I am reluctant to brand him a world class fighter.

The truth is he gets allot of credit for being less competitive in defeat than an old BHOP, Robin Reid and Sakio Bika against JC.

All the best fighters have losses because they face the best opposition. Common knowledge.

I agree with you, if you are not even the best in your division, how the **** can you be the best fighter currently P4P? Makes no sense to me. He retired when the division was heated to **** and came back to fight a lightweight. BOO!!!!

Less competitive than Bika? My recollection of that fight is Bika fouling left and right and Joe getting cut, not Bika putting in some fantastic performance. Kessler was at least in the Calzaghe fight until Joe figured him out by about the 7th or 8th.

But I agree that the Super 6 is where we find out just how good Kessler really is.

The way I saw the Calzaghe-Kessler fight was basically Kessler stunned Joe 2 times in two different rounds and was semi competative up to round 6. after that JC made him look like a stiff predictable robotic fighter and also showing us he had next to zero ability to fight on the back foot and counter counter.

At least Bika roughed house Calzaghe for 12 rounds and if you saw the damage and bruising on JC's face afterwards you would have thought he was the one who had lost the fight.
