Calzaghe was a talented fighter but lets be honest he never took enough risks in his career. There was to much record padding at times when he was trying to beat Eubank's record for number of world title defences.

He did call Emmanuel an Uncle Tom though. I'm sure you know that already.

Glen's in the unique position of knowing from firsthand experience since his career encompassed both being an overhyped, spoonfed unbeaten fighter and following that, one forged the hard way by fighting tough comp in their back yards and developing. I give him alot of credit because most fighters who have their careers laid out in the first way don't have the desire, or need, to go down the second, tougher road.

Depends how you lose also. Take Hatton for example he got out classed when he stepped up to the Elite level where as someone like was BHOP always competitive in defeat against stellar opposition.

Are you crazy? Before the defeat to BHOP Glen's resume was deep!

I agree. It depends on how you win and how you lose, as well as who you win against and who you lose against.

People who just look for a W on boxrec aren't looking deep enough.

Unlike most on ESB I dont discredit the Tszyu win based on so called inactivity before hand but the Ref was clearly in the tank for Ricky and lets face it those tactics have never worked well in the USA.

That win is slightly tainted and it is debatable how shot Tszyu was in his last ever pro fight.

Also I get sick of hearing " if the Hatton that fought Tszyu blah blah blah" when really that means if Hatton had the same Ref then he would have won the fight with rough house tactics.

Anyone who says this bull**** - who else could he have fought?

Was Lacy, Kessler, Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Sheika, Starie and Mitchell not the "best of the competition" at SMW when he fought them?

He then beat Hopkins easily, I don't care what any fan wants to talk about, Hopkins didn't do anywhere enough in that fight because whenever he did, he got hit in ways he didn't like.

Then he massacred Jones and did so while clowning him the whole fight.

That's hilarious, apparently Joe did nothing - yet unlike any other fighter in the last 15 years, he completely cleaned his division out, not once - but twice.

Joe did his thing, he could have had more fights within US though. But still, he is one hell of a fighter.

Fair comment Johnson. But, if you were in Floyd's shoes, you'd fight the fights that made you the most money with least risk as well. And for those hasty to rebut this statement and mention Margarito and the massive offer from Arum that Floyd refused, we know today that there were/are issues between Floyd and Arum about monies owed to Floyd and a claim of mismanagement.... Why sign to fight a guy whose promoter (your ex-manager) owes you money?

Ultimately, the Floyd puzzle can be solved relatively easily IMO; offer him a sum of money over and above what he's presently earnt - per fight - to fight an opponent who the boxing community considers high profile and a worthy opponent. Ensure that the offer comes with "no options" on his next fight(s). Basically, remove all grounds for excuses and then we'll see if Floyd's as big a coward as many claim.

In Johnson's case, losing to almost everyone you face with a winning record over a three year period is most definately overrated.

This 100% undefeated crap is an HBO invention, it means ****-all, look at Hagler for example who lost 2 fights early in his career & a draw for the title 1st time round, in this day & age he would have been written of by the TV companies.

Just because someone loses it don't make-em no good, this is the prob today, fantasy TV championship boxing, Mr perfect. Mr Clean, what a load of bollocks, everyone assumes now days that once you've lost a fight then it's all over & you've got to make a comeback, ****in nonsence:smoke
