Do you not think if he gets badly ko'd by stevenson , he will come out after and say he's moving up as 175 is draining him
This. When I was boxing there was a guy who was about 5,11 and he weighed 135 and he had a hell of a punch.
Has a really skinny build, and will look even skinnier up against a guy who is more than likely on peds,as for his power,Tony can bang a bit but at world level has id say above average power, his power is to be respected but not gonna have world class fighters shitting it..
Bellew reminds me of some of the huge psychotic looking meatheads who used to come to my gym, they always looked like they could punch holes through walls but when you sparred them they never seemed to have much pop on their punches. It was always the guys you least expected to that had real knockout punching power. Imo true punching power is something genetic, technique can be taught to make you punch with great force and accuracy but it can't make you have knockout power and Bellew just doesn't possess that kind of KO power in the Pro's.
Couldn't agree more. Bellews timing isn't great and neither is his speed. He hit Cleverly regularly and couldn't really budge him. Perhaps the weight takes away a lot of his much vaunted amateur power. I think he has above average power but his timing and speed really hinder him.
I have wondered this myself, but I think it is more to do with the fact that he just doesn't let the big ones go that often. I think he doesn't like to over commit these days.
Hes a domestic puncher at light heavyweight at 200lbs he would be a big puncher he was putting people to sleep in head gaurds in the amateurs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deEiEeG7XsU Here is John Lewis Dickinson vs. Bellew at 91 kgs in the amateurs. john Lewis is clearly boxing his head off until he is caught. Mind you JohnLewis was only 18 at the time and he looks bigger than Bellew to me in this fight. It is a nasty KO.
