ok so the performance mightnot have been exciting, but it was not **** poor, he won, and at this stage winning is all that matters.

the problem with boxing these days is that 1 defeat and everyone calls you a bum or finished, i think if less was put on protectong the 0 at all costs, there would be more fights and better quality,

for example if Bellew and Clev knew that whoever lost was going to get a return and maybe another go at it agian, maybe they (and others) throw caution to the wind and just go for it and fight another day,

like your football team losing to a poor side, they never going to play again?

never used tho happen in the 50's 60's or 70's i think it was around the ray leonard time people started to try and protect the 0 and now they do anything,

maybe i am totally wrong, just think things would be better if getting a few losses means nothing

 

A big factor in protecting an '0' is that when you're only fighting 3 times a year maximum then a loss can be a big set back, when you're fighting every few weeks then a loss is much easier to absorb.

Even in the sport as it is today you're not considered a bum if you have losses, if you pick up from a loss and go on to get some good wins then peoples' opinion can quickly change - we as boxing fans are very fickle.

Look at Glen Johnson as an example, he is still fairly highly regarded as a fighter and he has like 14 or 15 losses on his record.

 

at this stage of your career winning is not all that matters. thats complete and utter bull****.

Look at the fighters that have made big money in the UK in the last 10 years. Khan, Haye, Froch, Hatton, Naz. All looked exciting in the early part of there careers. Always in good fights even at domestic level as they went for it.

Bellew is talking himself up to be a KO artist. Then fights like that. crazy.

I like Bellew but I really can't see him beating Clev, I just don't see him having what it takes in any department.

That said, I still really want to see it!! The build up alone will be worthwhile.

 

Considering what was potentially at stake, and still is (See Bellew's Twitter), then winning was THE ONLY thing that mattered in the rematch with McKenzie. Adn Bellew hasnt ever really been in a boring fight bar this one.
