Is Bellew Vs Cleverly really as big a mismatch as everyone is going on?

I always tend to go with my heart rather than my head when choosing the winner of a fight. And being from Liverpool I am going with Bellew for this fight. I am not sure if I think he can win it to be honest but just going with my heart as usual. Anyhow, I have read a lot of news reports and forum posts about this fight and I am of the impression that most people think it is a total mismatch with Cleverly having an easy nights work.

Is the fight really that much of a mismatch? Does Tony really stand no chance? Is Cleverly really a class above Bellew? I know Bellew has been poor in his last 3 fights. Or is it that people just expect to much from him? But he has himself to blame for that ('I'm the smashing machine,' 'No one will go 12 rounds with me' etc). Personally, I don't think Cleverly is anything special either. I just don't know who will win this fight. I am saying Bellew but if I look a bit deeper I think something is saying Cleverly wins easily. Tony may have bigged himself up far too much which means unless you do as you are going to say people will always not rate you that much.

I think people are forgetting Tony is 16-0 (10Kos). I know he hasn't fought world class opposition but he is still unbeaten. He has been knocked down a couple times (only 1 proper knockdown) but he wasn't hurt, he jumped up right away. He has not been in trouble in any one of his fights. He has beaten all put in front of him which is all anyone can do. Is it wrong to be describing this as a mismatch, is cleverly really that much better than Tony?

  2. Using both hooks is either (Tyson)

Using technical range is either either (Ali)

Apart from hands you have footwork (and chin)

No, Rob will tell you otherwise but this really isnt a mismatch of any sort.

Cleverley deservedly goes in favourite, but with his complete lack of defence and his willingness to trade, coupled with Bellews REAL power.... this is in now way the complete mismatch that some are predicting.

Everyone has a 'punchers chance' going into fights at the very least..... Bellew has a lot more of a chance than that IMO.

If he fights like he did in his last fight he will get easily beaten by Clev. And let's not forget that his last performance was (in Bellew's own words), a "masterclass", we can't really expect more than a "masterclass", can we?

No this is a mismatch. Bellew may be the bigger puncher, his only advantage, but he is no way as big a puncher as you and others make out. Lets be real this guy is not David Haye or Naseem Hammed.

Cleverly will trade and win within 2-3 rounds.

It's not a huge mismatch but it is sort of.

Well each to their own but I am certain that does not happen. I've never ever said he is as bigger puncher as them, but he can certainly punch and Clev's defence is woeful.

It's worth noting that Clev's dad will be on his own in the corner.

There'll be no Dean Powell in this one.

I still make Clev the favourite but the fact that he goes in with a certified nutter on his own to give advice doesn't help matters.

No, but I don't recall him being present in the corner when two Allegedly fighters were up against each other.

He's been in both corners on several occasions, he'll probably wrap their hands and then watch in peace.

    I'm right though aren't I?

But his punch power is over rated by many, including Tony himself.

You can't point out the flaws in Cleverly when Bellew has many many more and Cleverly actually has the tools to exploit them.

Great Shout. That's a major worry because Nathan's not the most thinking fighter and he's dad's loony toons.

from what I have read the relationship between Clev and his Dad has never been an amazing one. Would love to see Cleverly move to London and work with Jimmy & Mark Tibbs. Better training and could spar the likes of DeGale, Groves or a regular basis.

We have seen Bellew fight smart one time. one time and he has already told us his tactics.
